Whilst waiting to see Gynae, I've been started on progesterone tablets. I've been on then for a month and have started experiencing inflamed gums/ teeth. Its not mentioned as side effect on the information leaflet of the pill but goggling it it seems to be a side effect. Has anyone else had this and does it settle? It's driving me mad as the gums feel irritated day and night!

Weird gum/teeth side effect

Hi there. I never connected the two. But I complained of regular flare ups of gingivitis and bleeding gums and not being able to close my mouth properly due to swelling.I was told by the dentist it had nothing to do with her, and suggested a blood test for vit C definciency and b12.
I didnt bother. I already know i dont absorb nutrients with endo so I got a softer tooth brush, and started rinsing my mouth with evervescent vit c x zinc tablets. It worked so fast I now do it everyday. And I notice the symptoms come straight back if i run out of tablets.
I take a b vitamin supplement some days a week, but it doesnt do as much. Hope this helps.
I've just noticed sensitive teeth and gums since I have endometriosis for some strange reasons, I'm not on anything at the moment other than strong pain killers
Your GP may refuse to do it so you may need to get it done privately but you need nutrient blood tests for vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin.
If any of those are too low so not optimal - supplement and take the cofactors e.g. iron with vitamin c, vitamin D with K2 and magnesium.
Please note I said optimal not adequate. A GP will tell you if your results are adequate you will have to do your own research to find out what is optimal.
