Hi all, after suffering for year I had a laparoscopy in 2023 where they removed endo. I then had a further laparoscopy a year later where more was removed. Both surgeries were not actually for endo but they said they would remove it if found during surgery. After each surgery a few months later the pain is intense! I suffer mainly with lower back pain most days of the month with it worsening during ovulation and during my period. My recent gynaecology apt left me feeling so deflated where the dr stated that it may not be related to endo. I have had this since 1999 and I know my body. I’ve had lesions in the ligaments that reach the spine, pouch of Douglas and pelvic wall. All of these are located towards the back. Yet because I am having more severe pain he states he doesn’t think it’s endo. I just feel so unheard and I am struggling so much. The pain is so bad it affects my daily life! Just wondering if anyone else suffers mainly with lower back pain?

back pain

Sorry to hear you're going through so much back pain and not feeling heard by your GP. It could very well be the Endo causing your back pain, however there are also a lot of other conditions which may be contributing.
I have Endo but I also have issues with previous slipped disc and sciatica. However, since my diagnosis I have seen that Endo can cause similar symptoms so its hard to know when I feel pain, what is causing it!
Has your GP suggested referring you onto anyone else? An MSK specialist? Or any further scans like an MRI to look at your spine/discs?
If they are referring you on for further spinal investigations, you could always mention to whoever you see about your Endo. They may be better placed to determine the cause of your pain and if it is from Endo or another condition.
Investigating whether it may be something else isn't a negative thing. Hopefully further investigations will give you a more full picture of what you're dealing with and hopefully provide you with some relief in the future.
hey, this sounds super frustrating. I too had a lot of back pain before and after my laparoscopy. Mine was found in the uterosacral ligaments and pouch of douglus. This pain got worst post op and the gyne sent me for an mri which showed thickening of the ligaments still. At this stage im about to try Dienogest so i would definitely be asking for a second opinion with the symptoms you are experiencing. Hope this helps in some way x
Hello, I’ve struggled mostly with lower back pain with Endo. I had excision surgery in August where endo was removed from ligaments/pelvic walls. Pre op and post op I was waking/taking cocodamol every four hours. I’ve since been prescribed pregablin which helps with neuropathic pain and since have not had any issues. Might be worth looking into.
I had a laparoscopy in September 2023, they removed some dormant endo at the back of my womb. I am lately in pain all the time, my lower abdomen and lower back It's achey and crampy and just awful. I am so uncomfortable all the time. More so around ovulation and my periods are absolute hell. My GP said the pain is likely endo that has came back and would make sense for the pain to be where it is with my endo being at the back of my womb. I was sent home with painkillers and told to use the endo UK website for advice. that's it. I'm struggling so much and constantly burning myself with hot water bottles. It's so frustrating 😫. I would say going by my pain and what I was told, your pain will be connected to your endo x
Hi I too have extreme back pain making everyday life a struggle, walking sitting, standing very painful and was told this could be due to endometriosis as well as a prolapse. I also have adenomyosis. I've started on Prostap injections to see if that helps with pelvic pain, pain after urinating and bowel movements. The injections are to see if a hystorectomy would help. I am concerned as I was led to believe that unless endometriosis was removed that the pain could still come back. Prolapse would need to be rectified also to help back pain. I've only had 1 prostap injection to stop hormones but this 1st month as it also says has made things worse but should reduce on next injection. So maybe you have a prolapse?
