I’m going into hospital in a few week for a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (laparoscopic ). Has anyone had this done, what is the down time ( I know everyone is different) time in hospital etc? I’m a single mum with a 6 year old with little support so I’m worrying about that also. Any advise would be appreciated x

I'm having this done soon. It depends on why you are having it and how you are being operated on. Most women need 6 to 10 weeks recovery but usually start feeling better after 4 weeks. You cannot drive until you can do an emergency stop but some women with robotic surgery drive quite quickly. You've had your stomach muscles cut and organs removed so your body needs to recover and you can't lift anything. You will be tired for some time. Good luck lovely 😍
Sorry I can't give any advice. Just responding because I'm on the list to have a hysterectomy as well. I haven't got a date yes but have my pre op on about a week and a half. Fingers crossed for both of us.
Hi , have you had a pre op appointment? They usually tell you how long you might be recovering, although different for everyone. From listening to other people on forum could be anything from 2 months to a year or more depending on what happens after surgery. Hope the surgery goes well and recovery is quick for you , I'm waiting for the same op
