Hey! Does anyone have recommendations for gynaecology consultants specialising in endometriosis in Manchester or North West England?
I've been been going back and forth with the NHS for almost a year and honestly losing hope. The truth is I've been enduring extreme pain since I started my periods at the age of 11... almost 34 and with my pains and what I assume to be endometriosis symptoms getting worse, I'm finally taken the courage to advocate for myself and my health, but realising how painful and long winded the process is with the current state of the NHS and lack of regard for women's health in the UK.
I'm weighing up my options and thinking to arrange a private consultation with specialists, with hopes that I can get the cogs moving, because the idea of waiting almost a year for a referral to be accepted to a specialist seems diabolical.
Please share names of consultants you've had positive experiences with and would recommend, along with names of consultants you'd advise I avoid too.
Thanks in advance! 💞

Hi so sorry to hear that your I'm pain. I can relate it took me 15 years to get diagnosis and a further 4 years of advocating to get treatment. It really is a terrible journey. Personally I went to St Marys in Manchester who from all the gynecologists i saw were by far the best. Ive had lots of poor experiences in other hospitals in NW. I think in the UK you start off with general gyane until you get a diagnosis and they stage your endometriosis. We are not allowed to name doctors on this site. Unfortunately the waits are a long time, even after you get a diagnosis and are listed for surgery. It took me 3 years to get my surgery and when I was finally listed it took a further 79 weeks. Some hospitals have less of a wait but I didn't fault the care at St Mary's. I was extremely unwell by the time I got to surgery and spent 10 days in hospital post surgery 8, which were in ICU. Most of the BSGE doctors in St Mary's also work private. The costs can add up. I do think waiting times have improved now but just be prepared for it. Hope you get the support and help you need. X
Dr.Kenneth Ma.Based in MFT but google it.He sits in some private setups as well.I had a surgery back in 2019,without harming any organs,5 years relief.Endo came back after 5 years but with less pain.Next surgery booked for next year
And noted about Dr K.M - is he still your consultant and will he be performing your upcoming surgery next year as well? How have you found your level of care with him so far?
Hi.Yes he will be performing my next surgery. The best thing is he personally see his patients in every appointment rather than nursing staff. Give you proper time to speak and question.I can give you endo depart direct number so you can request to book with him.If you dm me.I dont know how to DM here.Obviously mft waiting list is still long .50 weeks waiting for my next surgery. But you can contact PALS for sooner appointment if you feel too much pain.
Okay, great. Thanks for the heads up about your experience with Dr. K.M and MFT so far. I'm on the waitlist for a referral to speak with a consultant at St Mary's so all this is useful, thank you.
Hi! Thank you for sharing! Glad to hear things have been progressing for you too! Although you got diagnosed privately, did you see Dr. Sujata Gupta and get your MRI done at St Mary's?
