I’ve just recently had my health insurance claim approved to go to a consultant, I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis this year, and was given the IUD under general anaesthesia. I would like to explore the possibility of having endometriosis too, therefore I know a laparoscopy is the way to go, which is why I went through my insurance, the waiting lists are so long and it would be expensive private! They’ve given me a list of three consultants, I’m in Northern Ireland. If anyone has Vitality, and has had diagnostic surgery or treatment, would you mind messaging me which consultant you went to and what your experience was like? I’m really hoping they won’t push back on my request as the consultant I seen previously said a laparoscopy would be the next step if the IUD didn’t help but unfortunately he does not accept Vitality.

Have you explored vaginal ultrasound by someone trained & experienced at spotting endo? I ask because my understanding is more & more this is now the first recommendation for diagnosis & not surgery. Obviously recovery from surgery is also longer & far more expensive.
I was diagnosed this way & then am Me RI was carried out to identify the extent my bowel was affected. This also helped guide my surgeon in advance of my laparoscopic hysterectomy & excision surgery
I have had multiple ultrasounds on the NHS so I can’t say if any were experts, I had a very quick one with a gynaecologist but he didn’t mention seeing any signs of Endo or Adeno. I had a pelvic MRI which is how I got diagnosed with Adenomyosis and they said there were no signs of Endo. I am covered for two additional scans, so I’m definitely open to getting scans first with someone who knows what to look for, but want to know they are open to the possibility of performing surgery if necessary. Did you get excision in Northern Ireland? I would love to hear more about your experience and who the consultant was if you’re willing to share privately. Hope you are recovering well and have had some relief!
Good Morning! I sent you a DM about my consultant I am currently under using Vitality health insurance. I have found vitality to be very good and understanding. The consultant I used did not need nor suggest surgery for diagnoses. He was able to confirm via vaginal ultrasound and then explorative MRI. However it did then progress to surgery due to the results of the MRI.
Thank you, I’ve just sent you a reply! My MRI didn’t show any signs of Endo, nor have any of my ultrasounds but I’m covered for 2 scans with Vitality so I’m definitely happy for them to do that first, especially if they know what they are looking for!
