Hello, I had my third Prostap injection for endometriosis on the 23rd December (last Monday) and I have started to experience mild period like pains. Around my pelvis I'm getting pain and the tops of my legs are hurting. Has anyone else experienced this and is it normal?

Hi I was on prostab for just over 2 years and at the beginning I had some mild symptoms, however I would get symptoms towards the end of the 4 week cycle, cramping, hip pain and pain down my legs.

I did find that it lessened my symptoms and helped with pain management.

I've now had a hysterectomy so no longer need the injections. As it's been a polava to have them at my GP surgery as nobody seems to understand the process of the injections, in that they should be given every 4 weeks as breaking the cycle can cause havoc!

I hope that helps somewhat.

Hey, thanks for this. Would you mind me asking how you are after the hysterectomy? I'm on prostap for 4 months with the view to have the hysterectomy if they work, I have one injection left. They have helped massively, just this month I'm having the discomfort.Oh, I know....I had a nightmare trying to even get the injections!!

Thanks for the reply x

I had to fight for my consultant to put me on prostab. If the prostab is working for you then I believe a hysterectomy would have good outcomes.

I had my hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and I honestly feel like I'm getting my life back.

The hysterectomy has been so different from my first laparoscopic surgery. I was on so much pain after the first one and my recovery was slow. However I'm feeling really good 2 weeks post op. The only issue I've had is from a ureteric stent they had to place because there was a blood vessel very close to the ureter that they had to work on. I'm having the stent removed on Thursday, and I think from there things will be even better.

I've got very little pain from the hysterectomy. I no longer have restless legs, pain down my thighs, hip pain or the feeling that my hips are glued together. I'm not needing to sleep during the day. I know that we all react differently to procedures and our pain thresholds are different. But I am so grateful that I had two amazing consultants and their experience and expertise is amazing.

I hope that the prostab works for you and I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your surgery.

I had never put my restless legs down to my endo/women problems! I see my in Jan after my last injection so I have everything crossed she says she will do the surgery. Hope your recovery continues well
