Equality Act recognition

Hello, I have endometriosis and adenomyosis and am struggling to get it recognised under the Equality Act at work. Has anyone had it recognised and can give any advice? Sadly I am pushing for it as I have a senior manager (not my direct manager) questioning it and making my ife at work quite challenging so I want the extra protection.

in what respect are you struggling? Are you talking about reasonable adjustments? What are you seeking?

Because they are conditions that will impact you for longer than 6 months, you are covered by the act. However, I think the most you can expect is reasonable adjustments. I would recommend asking for a referral to Occupational Health as they’ll be able to help suggest reasonable adjustments that can be put into place at work for you

hi, do you have union representation? They can be invaluable for support x

Hi, Definitely ask for Occupational health referral as they can guide the employer. ACAS offer impartial advice to employees and employers. If your manager doesn't refer to OH speak to ACAS ( Google the number). My manager is very supportive. I've not needed OH as yet.

Hope you get some support x

I would definitely see if your manager can get you an occupational health referral . I recently had one at my work and they have advised that I am likely to be covered by the equality act as it is a long term condition. I hope you are able to get the support you need

I work in Occupational Health would definitely consider getting your manager to do a referral then you’re covered some what. From experience I think it doesn’t always say is covered by the equality act but OH can definitely say you need some adjustments to your role. Even from the smallest things like working from home or flexible hours. I hope that helps.
