I had an abdominal and vaginal ultrasound last week, the sonographer told me as she was scanning that she could see some endometriosis on the back of my uterus, a fibroid on the front wall and some adenomyosis. She said ovaries looked fine. I was relieved as I'd been referred urgently to gynae, had a blood test which showed raised ca125 and on that basis I was referred on a gynae 2ww.I had the ultrasound within a week of the 2ww referral and have now got an appointment for a hysteroscopy at the end of December. I don't know why I've been booked for this, has anyone else had this and can shed some light? I keep panicking thinking that the sonographer has got it wrong 😭

Ultrasound findings

Hi. I wanted to reply on the basis that I was also referred to Gynae under the 2ww. I had a unrelated MRI due to issues with my back which picked up a large mass on my left ovary. I had the CA125 test which came back at 65 so obviously immediately googled what was a normal range which set me off into panic mode.
I had a TV and a normal ultrasound and was told by the radiographer that the mass looked like an endometrioma. I had never even heard of this to be honest. I then saw the gynae consultant who confirmed that he believed the mass was a 7cmx5cm endometrioma. We discussed options and I agreed to a laparoscopy. I was advised I would get a date for the lap and he would remove my left ovary and left Fallopian tube. This was all a whirlwind as previous to having the mass show up on the MRI I had never had any symptoms of endo.
The gynae consultant told me that he is not worried about high CA125 results unless the results are in the hundreds or thousands and a slightly higher reading is just because of the endo.
Fast forward to 26th October where I went into hospital for day surgery to have the ovary and tube removed only to come around from the anaesthetic to be told the surgeon couldn't remove them due to them being stuck to my uterus and bowel. I was told I would get an appointment for a follow up to discuss other options.
Even now I haven't had any symptoms or pains.
As difficult as it is (as I have been there) try not to panic too much. If I hadn't had the MRI I would be none the wiser.
I had a hysteroscopy to see what was going on before a lap with excision. I had a Mirena coil inserted. Nothing like your own case at all. There was nothing going on, thankfully. You can have them under anaesthetic but I have zero. Which I wasn’t impressed about.
Hi, the best way to find out why you’ve been referred for a hysteroscopy is to call the hospital gynae department and ask them. But I also know it can be really hard to get to speak to someone.
The hysteroscopy could be because of the raised CA125 results as a precaution. It could also be because of the fibroid - sometimes they can remove these during a hysteroscopy though it depends on the position and size of the fibroid.
Hopefully the hospital has provided you with detailed info about what the hysteroscopy appointment involves (including if it’s diagnostic or operative). They should also have talked to you about your pain management and anaesthesia options for this procedure. While most wonen get on ok with it, around 1 in 3 experience severe pain, so it’s worth making sure they’ll be providing proper pain relief in advance. You can look up the Campaign Against Painful Hysteroscopy online - they’re doing some great work to raise awareness of your options for this procedure.
Hope everything goes well for you.
Hi i had a hysterscopy they did mine just to see what was going on i think, tell them you want a local anaesthetic when you get there. Hope all goes well for you, sending you a safe hug too 🤗
