I have recently been diagnosed with Endometriosis, tissues on Uterus and have an ovarian cyst . The cyst was found during an ultra sound last year but the endometriosis tissues more recently following going private and seeing an gynaecologist , and a mri scan.
she has recommended either going on the mini pill or having the coil fitted to manage the symptoms. Or a laparoscopy .
I would say I have chronic pelvic pain and back pain for the last few months, gets worse after exercise.no issues with my cycle or periods themselves.
I am wondering what people’s experiences have been with the mini pill and coil.i I don’t really want to start something that will affect my periods or cause major side effects as I know the pill sometimes can. Or is it worth just having the laparoscopy?
Thank you in advance.

I had the jaydess coil (smaller then mirena) which helped for two years, switched to the mirena after as it can last up to 5 years I believe. Both were recommend as they have low hormone levels. Fitting them wasn't pleasant but for me it really did help and there were months without a period. When I did have a period, it was less painful. Only removed it as trying to conceive, but otherwise I still would have had the coil.
Hi, thank you for your reply and sharing your experience with the coil. I have never used this option before and would consider this rather than the mini pill if necessary. It’s good to know you’ve had more or less a positive experience with it.
I started having symptoms at 24. Got laparoscopy. 4 months later symptoms came back. Started the pill with only progesterone. Had nausea. Moved to a normal one with both estrogen and progesterone. Had night sweats, mood swings pain during ovulation (even if the pill stops that, so very weird).
Currently I'm on no hormonal treatment and I'm amazing. My game changer was alcol free e sugar free diet. And also balanced diet (always pritein, and fat when eating carbs) as insulin spikes promote inflammation. So basically antiinflammatory diet. I train in the gym. Sometimes get a bit sore after, bit not always, so I believe depends on the moment of the period as well.
Hi, thank you for your reply. This is really helpful. I am 37, I also just train in the gym and do Bootcamp type classes-certain exercises such as ab work is becoming painful. I am abit reluctant to go on the pill because of potential side effects, it is why I didn’t start it after having my 2 girls. I am not planning on having anymore children. It seems it’s going to be trial and error but I am going to start with changes in my diet too as you’ve suggested. I’m glad you have found the best options for you and are managing better.
