Hello, I recently got diagnosed with endometriosis when I had an ovarian dermoid cyst removed by laparoscopy. It was a surprise and my gynaecologist said it was near to my kidney tube so didn’t remove it as she didn’t want to risk any damage to my kidney.
I tried dienogest for 2 months but it gave me vision problems so I stopped it 3.5 weeks ago. I’ve got my first period since stopping it but in the couple of days before and now whilst I’m on my period, I get this stabbing pain for a few seconds which feels right up in my bum (sorry!) when I sit down after I’ve been for a wee. Is this a symptom of endo?
I’ve had pelvic pain for years and bad period pains but always got told this was normal so I now think they were from the endo. My doctor also thinks I have progesterone intolerance so I’m now trying out tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid as treatment for my symptoms so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
TIA xx

Hi. I had stabbing pain in vagina which led to my investigations and diagnosis. I get bum hole pain during my period sometimes too - I thought it was haemmorhoids but my MRI showed an adhesion and gynae said it was likely from that...
Hey sorry to hear what your going through! I no what you mean same as other reply I'm sick of all these weird stabbing pains! I've recently been diagnosed with deep infiltrating endometriosis which sounds like what you have if it near your kidney. My MRI didn't show up anything in my bowel but I'm scared it's there! I'm going private because my Dr hasn't even put me on any medication so it's probably running riot in there! I wish you all the best x
Thanks for replying! My gynae said to me the endo is superficial rather than deep. I don’t know how much they can actually see from a laparoscopy though? She didn’t seem concerned and said that now they’ve found that surgery is most beneficial to people with deep endo so surgery isn’t indicated for me.
I had 3 ultrasounds for the cyst and it wasn’t picked up. I had an MRI on the NHS which wasn’t reported correctly as during the surgery she found I also have a hemi uterus! I went private for the op so she got a gynae radiologist to read my scan and it was all on there. She did say general radiologists don’t always pick these things up when reporting.
I’m hoping the new medications help me. I get bad side effects to hormonal contraceptives so don’t want to go down that route!
