What’s the average wait time to be seen by a specialist hospital?

Hi, they vary. I had a choice of Manchester Royal Infirmary who’s MDT review/first appointment date was a year and Royal Oldham who’s MDT review/first appointment time was 6 months.

It doesn’t seem to include a lot of hospitals or even specialisms. For example, I couldn’t find endocrinology wait time.

They vary but can be anything from 9 months to 18 months depending on your problem. The longest I've waited was a year x

Depends what your waiting for. Im waiting for hysterectomy and been told 12-18 months.

My sister now waiting for her 1st gynae app and been told 50 weeks

Hi I waited just under 14 months for consultation with Liverpool women’s.

My NHS wait was over a year for initial consultation, I have also paid private and that was 6 weeks wait x

I don’t know what I was hoping for but I should have guessed it’s a terrible long wait.

I got a letter in October 2023 to say my appointment was end of July 2024. I paid to go private (£200) and saw the same doctor 5 days later. He took me off the medication I was on and onto a new treatment plan. He wrote to my consultant who followed the advice. If I hadn't done this I would have been really ill. I then waited until July 2024 and he'd retired by then. I recommend going private if you can afford it x
