I am currently at the stage of worry about my eggs and fertility daily (I am now 24 reaching 25)
I am looking into egg freezing and it is daunting how expensive it is (£10,000-£15,000 on average)
”life changing laparoscopy surgery offered to Endometriosis patients can, in some cases, harm the ovarian tissue and cause infertility issues in itself - so egg freezing can be recommended prior to this.”
I have never been recommended egg freezing, I would like to know if anyone has had free egg freezing from the NHS? And if so, how did you go about it?
thank you.

Hello - its not offered on the NHS but you can get it done privately, less than 10k I think it is about 4k. I have stage 4 endo, age 32, and tried to get mine frozen but the endo was so bad that at the initial scan I was told they couldn't access my ovaries without rupturing 3 endometriomas and puncturing my bowel. They also advised that freezing eggs means the eggs also have to survive the thoring process so not all are viable if then using them for IVF, and that do survive are also of a lower quality after thoring. An AMH blood test will give you an idea of your ovarian reserve and if it is normal for your age - perhaps you could ask your GP or consultant for one, they normally do one before a multi disiplinary meeting when planning your surgery. Surgery can also be done in other ways to try and preserve ovarian tissue, such as draining endometriomas that are attached to ovaries, rather than removing them (but this means endo will return quicker).
Hello, stage 4 endo here, I had some frozen last month curtesy of the NHS. My consultant backed a referral so had to go through the GP but got 1 funded round on the NHS.
It was my choice whether to do Embroyos or Eggs. I think you have to be Stage 3/4 to be considered.
