Anyone have experience with endo pain worsened by weightlifting?

I've been weight training quite often since my endo had been okay and the gym usually helps me, however I'm noticing since I've been hip thrusting heavier I've been getting very sharp pelvic pain on my left side. Anyone know if hip thrusts are bad for endo and trigger pain or wondering if its just a one off.

Hi there,

I don't do weight lifting (good on you) but I do pilates. I have found and discussed with medical professionals about the pain I experience exercising. It's not unheard of for people with endo to have pain when exercising apparently that being said it's always good to have things checked out especially if they are new.

It's probably something to do with engaging our core muscles which include our pelvis.

My doctors are currently trying to help me figure out a pain management so Im hopefully that exercising will be less painful with that.

I hope this helps and you find a way to manage it.

Thanks for your reply, it probably is affecting by core/pelvic movements. Think I'm just going to take a little step back at the minute to prevent it getting worse

No problem. I'm always in awe of people who can lift weights so I hope it doesn't stop your progress for too long 😊

I believe hip thrusts can aggravate your pelvic floor! I’ve recently had to stop doing them as I had terrible period like pain for days when I last did them. I’m looking into pelvic floor physio to see if that helps, as I really don't want to stop lifting weights! Might be worth looking into 😊

Ahh thank you! Yes it's like period pain just in a certain spot on my left side! Very sharp and crampy after doing them! Will look into that too!

I used to always get pain after doing hip thrusts in the gym (I have adenomyosis, not endo). I put it down to the fact that the weight presses down on the pelvis. Eventually I just refused to do them and my trainer gave me goblet squats as an alternative, which worked much better for me and gave me no pain afterwards. Best of luck in finding what works for you. I know it can be frustrating experiencing pain when all you're trying to do is stay healthy.
