Positive Experience - Diagnosis and Treatment

Hi everyone,

I have posted before so just wanted to post an update on my experience after finally getting validation on my symptoms 🙂.

Following 3 and a half years of pain, negative laparoscopy (nothing found), normal ultrasounds, multiple gaslighting occasions and medical professionals saying I didn’t have gynae issues and my symptoms were related to other things… I finally had my second lap last Saturday. This experience was the polar opposite of my first (initial lap was on the NHS but in a private hospital, second was private but conducted at an NHS hospital). This time, I knew from the consultations that I fully trusted my surgeon. I was in the OR for around 90 mins as far as I can tell. After my MRI showed Adenomyosis a few months ago I was so much more confident that Endo would be found… and it was - diagnosis and treatment completed. My tubes were also found to be fairly blocked so these were flushed out at the same time.

I know so many of you are going through similar journeys and most will be fighting for a diagnosis. I wanted to share my positive experience as a hope that it will help even one person out there that feels like they aren’t getting anywhere. Stay strong and trust yourself. There are good Specialists out there that do know what they are doing. Find one that listens and you feel confident in - if you don’t, then get another opinion.

Although I had so much more done this time than my first laparoscopy, I already feel 10 times better than I did one week after my first one. Don’t get me wrong, the first few days were tough - I’m sore, bruised and have multiple incisions - but I seem to be healing so much faster this time round. I think a lot of it was due to my procedure being with an Endometriosis Specialist, but the positive outcome means my mind is also healing - mental clarity and all that. Most of the weight of it all is gone. I think that’s something that friends and family often cease to realise - just how much stress and emotional baggage comes with these journeys.

I know we shouldn’t mention names directly in posts but if anyone wants a recommendation for a private surgeon in Bedfordshire please message me. He spoke with me before surgery to go through the procedure and after to tell me my results. He was caring from initial consultation, holding my hands to make sure I was ok. He even messaged me the day before my surgery and after to check how I was and see if I had any questions. I travelled from the Leicestershire boarder to been seen by him and it was the best decision I could have made.

Sending love to you all 💛
