I have struggled with severe pain for years and I have recently just been diagnosed with endometriosis. I am due to have a diagnostic plus excision laparoscopy at the end of the month.
could anyone please help interpret my results as I have not been back to see the specialist since MRI scan, and let me know what it means in English and what kind of recovery time I am realistically looking at from the surgery?
“it has mentioned an endometriotic plaque of the recto cervical septum and adhesions between the left ovary, sigmoid and uterus”
Many thanks

Endo adhesions are sticky bands of scar tissue that fuse things together. So sounds like you have this between/ around your left ovary, womb and sigmoid colon (part of the intestine). Which sounds very similar to where my endo is located.
The recto cervical septum I think is more commonly described as the recto vaginal septum. Recto vaginal endometriosis is when tissue/plaque grows outside of the uterus and into the rectum, vagina, or the structures between them.
Think it's location indicates that the endo is at an advanced stage.
In terms of recovery it varies from person to person and will depend on things like how much work was done during the op. I had my op 4 weeks ago, diagnosed with stage 4 endo, surgery took longer than hoped and there were some complications, i am still signed off work recovering (was given a 6 week fit note and i suspect i will need a phased return when i do go back to work). Some people go back to work sooner/ are more active sooner. Its different for each person. I would signpost you to the endo uk site which has more info
