Hi Everyone,

It only helped me a little when pain is from the heavy flow but doesn’t help with endo pain in general x
Hi, I was prescribed tranexamic acid for pain even though it only really helps with bleeding. What I found was that I’d go to the GP because of pain and they’d say, “Take this tranexamic acid, it will help with your bleeding”. I’d say that I don’t have an issue with bleeding and they’d say. “Oh yeah, it’ll help with pain too” but it didn’t.
It’s for bleeding disorders and I genuinely doubt that it will help with the pain.
No it didn’t help me with the pain. I find that taking tranexamic acid and northisterone together is actually better for me x
I can echo with the 2 ladies above in that it doesn't per se help with pain, moreso bleeding. I take it alongside mefenamic acid the first few days into my period and I find together they work pretty well. The GP should be treating your pain too, not just bleeding. Maybe go back and see if they can offer anything else.
I agree with the above . It helps with reducing the flow and not the pain.
For the pain, I use ibuprofen liquid capsules. You can buy this from Boots, Superdrug or Sainsbury’s. This works wonders for me. I avoid the nurofen brand.
I used to use the normal ibuprofen tablets or capsules but it didn’t do much. However the liquid capsules is what works for me.
I have tried the pill, menefic acid, treaxmic acid and other prescribed drugs but it did not work.
Hey Bk27,
I was prescribed it and it worked when I was bleeding during my cycle. It doesn’t help with endo in general.
Hope this helps x
Hi,
I was prescribed it to make my periods lighter. It eased my period pain a bit because it reduced the blood clots in my period. I was prescribed mefenamic acid to take with it. This is a pain killer for when you are on your period. I’d ask if you could be prescribed that and take both together, it helped me massively.
Hi
I have had it in the past , it did help with the pain initially . I suppose as my endo got worse , it stopped working . However it is good for pain relief x
Hi, I had it prescribed for 8 years, prior to being diagnosed with endo & found it helped with bleeding & pain. It didn't stop the pain completely, it just lessened it & allowed it to respond better to painkillers, which were previously doing nothing. I'd say it's worth trying.
I have but I didn’t really notice a difference for me. Just underwent my second surgery 😮💨
it didn’t do anything for me with the pain.
It helps me with the bleeding but not the pain. When I take tranexamic acid, I change my pad every hour instead of every half an hour (or less).
I think it just helps with the bleeding not pain. I used to take it and it did help with the bleeding but now I’m on the pill and coil which helps more with the bleeding
hi yes I have been but they completely messed with my stomach and I had to be prescribed gastric medicine in order to take them but it still didn’t really help so I stop taking them. I also found that they didn’t immediately work I would need to take them 2-3 days before it actually worked with reducing the pain.
Hello, sorry you are suffering too!
I take tranexamic acid & although it doesn't help with pain directly, it does eliminate the bad pain that comes with losing large clots. Not general endo pain, but my menstrual pain is eased as it stems the flow. Hope this helps!
