Unbearable leg pain

Hi all, just a quick one to ask if anyone has any tips... I'm on day 5 of my period and it has been horrendous as per usual (today is the first day I have been able to cope without morphine (so far) and I've come to work but I can barely walk. The pain in my legs has been awful this month and it has never been this bad before I keep crying and waking through the night from the pain to take morphine because oh my god its awful. Has anyone got any tips on how to ease it or how I can get through today and tomorrow at work like this? I have had to take tramadol this morning so I can cope a bit at work but that hasn't even done much to be honest. I'm at my wits end at this point😩

I take Naproxen (anti-inflammatory) for the leg pains and it really helps. I'm also trialling Amitriptyline over Christmas, as it targets nerve pain and pelvic pain. How about a hot water bottle? I use a heated pad and that really helps too. I hope you find some comfort soon 🙏 It is horrible 😢

Leg pain is a sign of sciatic endometriosis. It's aweful. Only pain killer will help. I try heat bag and doesn't help a bit. The pain is such that I don't want to sit or stand or sleep. I end up running inside the house. If you do weightlifting in gym please don't do deadlifts or anything to do with bending your back with weights.

Oh okay thank you, I will mention it to my GP! No risk of me doing weights in the gym don't worry😆

Pls as the person next to me has recommended visit a chiroprac. It could be an alignment issue. You might get a permanent relief. I am considering that option but don't know how to proceed with the help of NHS as I'm new to the UK.

Hiya. I work for the nhs and unfortunately Chiro is not available via the nhs. You would have to find a private practitioner x

Thank you. Private would cost a fortune I believe

I've never heard of this condition. I suspect I have this, have had problems since I had an epidural 26 years ago.

have you tried a good Bournemouth trained chiropractor? The inflammation caused by the endo pulls the ligament which puts pressure on lumbar 4/5 causing pressure on the nerves that causes the pain in the legs. A chiropractor will realign the back and ease the situation. However, that is just treating the symptom not the cause but could ease the chronic pain.

Have you looked at changing your diet and lifestyle to ease your symptoms? Many people get great relief by doing that, see endometriosis.co.uk/

Ooh I'll look into it thank you x

This is a great solution. Will a GP refer us to a chiroprac or should it be done privately. Pls advise.

Sorry, it’s unlikely that a GP will refer you. A good chiropractor will talk to you, X-ray you and tell you if he can help or direct you to the specialist if he cannot help.

Hi, I have this also and the only thing that eases it slightly is sitting in a hot bath with Epsom salts. I know this isn’t practical for work purpose though. I would also speak to your consultant/gp about nerve painkillers such as amitriptyline or pregabalin/gabapentin. Sending hugs 🤗

A bath is a good shout actually thank you! I have tried amitriptyline before but it made me so unbelievably sluggish/tired so I couldn't concentrate on anything so they took me off it :( Thanks so much for replying xx

Hi Lily, firstly I'm sorry to hear this, it sounds awful. My leg pain was the thing that made me seek help and led to my diagnosis of endometriosis in the first place, it was so awful so I do understand. Have you had a laparoscopy for your endo? I've had a lap in July and a Mirena coil in since July, it's not without its downsides but the leg pain has eased off alot since having the Mirena. I also find that Deep Freeze cream or spray on my legs helps me sleep at night have you tried this? Best of luck to you xxx

Oh wow it must've been really bad for you too :( I haven't had my lap yet but my MRI confirmed endo and adenomyosis so I'm on a waiting list for a the surgery and they are going to put the mirena in at the same time so hopefully that helps🤞 I will give the freeze spray a go, thank you xxx

Hi, I suffer with awful leg pain as well, it's always the left leg and it travels from the hip down, I take co-codamol 30/500 and sit on an ice pack placed under my left hip area - it does help to ease my pain a bit.

Yes I take that co codamol too and generally find heat helps a little but I might try ice... I don't know about you but I can't take anti-inflammatory pain killers like naproxen because of the heart burn & acid reflux it gives me😭 which is usually what the GP recommends for the leg pain!! xx

I am on the same boat, and sorry to hear you are too. This leg pain takes over your life....what has helped me is magnesium glycinate before bed which settles the pain and I rub ibrupufen 10% strength on my back and buttock before bed as taken orally upset my stomach. Hope it helps!

Hi Lily, I don’t know if you’ve tried any vitamins I’ve suffered 8 years with Endo and I’ve just changed jobs I now work with Vitamins and Supplements Tumeric, Magnesium glycinate, Curcumin And omega-3 fatty acids can be helpful for endometriosis I hope this is helpful and hopefully 🤞 helps with the pain you are going through.

Hi :) I take magnesium, vitamin D and B6 every day and have done for months but this pain is still not budging no matter what I do sadly. I might have to look into tumeric and omega 3 also though, thank you for recommending! xx
