After suffering with endo for the last 18 years I have done a lot of research.
Around 2 years ago I gave up meat and adapted a pescatarian diet, which was tough as I love my food. The results and new quality of life was enough to make me never go back to the meat diet. I also eat very very little dairy as I believe this too leads to a flare up.
Although still suffering and I have narrowed down flare ups always occur after drinking alcohol. I know we should limit alcohol, which I do try although at weekends I love a glass of wine. It isn’t excessive or binge drinking.
I am convinced that red wine, encourages a flare up more than others. I have excessive bleeding and often clots which lead to the dreaded pain we unfortunately know too well.
I know I need to give up the red wine. I have tried to research why this is happening but mostly it talks about alcohol in general and not specific red wine.
Anybody got any further insights as to why this would be happening?
Love a 33 professional who needs wine haha 😆

Personally I'm not certain diet makes a big difference for me, but anything that helps is worth a try. But I do know drinking alcolhol , even a little on a daily basis seriously increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. My sister has breast cancer and was a heavy drinker for years so I did a lot of reading about this and it seems that womens bodies turn alcohol into oestrogen and it causes high eostrgen elevels , which not only increase a cancer risk but feed endo. So it might be feeding the endo rather than causing flare ups, either way endo sufferes have high levels of oestrogen and regular drinking increases that so it's probably not good for you. There is a mush higher risk of breast and ovarian cancer for women who drink than those who don't but I'm not sure why women aren't told this.
I don’t know loads but I have a friend who has endo and is a nutritionist and she recently said there’s research showing that removing certain types of food has proven to lesson the blow of endometriosis. Her primary ones wedge gluten and dairy.
Another friend who has suffered greatly has found diet changes really helpful for her such as cutting out dairy, sugar, caffeine and most alcohol.
I am so tired with my kids and chronic pain and the idea of adding one more chores to my list like changing my diet completely seems difficult for me but perhaps worth it.
As for the red wine—-I drink differ types of alcohols and I’ve notice one beer (past one pint) makes my hormones go ALL OVER THE PLACE. And causes pain. And recently RED WINE. It not only seems to cause severe flare up the next day and what seems like the nastiest hangover despite not drinking more than 2 glasses (which I have always managed before my endo kept getting worse). I have no evidence but I know that red wine definitely seems to be brutal for me and I’ve been having to steer clear. I’ve moved on to the white and I can have 3 glasses of that with zero issues on day or next day. it’s not been too bad enjoying a white.
Hope you can find something to help you unwind on a weekend🥹
