Hi there has anyone here used the Gnhr injection and what is your experience with it. I've been offered it and I was wondering what other's experience of it was like, side effects and so forth. Many thanks x

Hey lovely. There are so many bad experiences out there when you google which initially put me off but I needed something whilst waiting for surgery and nothing else had worked.

I can honestly say I have had the best experience ever! Once it had settled (about 3 weeks) I felt absolutely amazing, no pain, no bleeding, nothing else. I am still shocked as I couldn’t remember what it felt like to be healthy 🤣

You have nothing to loose and if your body doesn’t like it you can always stop or try some HRT to balance things back out.

Hope this helps xx

Hey I’m on decapeptyl 3 monthly injections with tibilone as an add back HRT. After my first injection I had a lot of clots but they told me this was normal and it did settle after a couple of weeks.

My main side effects are joint pain (pelvis, knees even shins sometimes) however I have stage 4 advanced endo with a frozen pelvis so my pelvic pain could be that still. I don’t sleep great but nothing like it was before being woken up in pain. I had the mirena before this and it was a terrible experience so anything is better than that for me. The best part is not having a period or a cycle so I don’t get the excruciating ovulation pain.

Hope this helps. And like anonymousunicorn says you can always come off it again if your side effects are bad.

Best of luck.

I've had a really bad experience with it but that's because a) I react badly to any tampering with hormones, can't have hormonal birth control either, and b) I already had a heart arrhythmia and this got worse with the gnrh agonists. This is a well-researched side effect that can happen. Unfortunately, a year since coming off them and my heart is still much worse off than it was before starting them.

But every body is different. I'd say monitor how things are going whilst you're on it. It brings a lot of relief too, but for me it didn't weigh up against the heart stuff and all the other horrific side effects I got from them (fatigue, headaches, no libido, night sweats, hot flashes, irritability, brain fog, vaginal dryness and more).

Im now on my 3rd week of treatment and honestly its been a lot better than a thought it would, touch wood no major side effects other than some bleeding which i expected , I'm hopeful that next month will be even better. I was terrified of trying this and put it off for years.

Hi

I started the Prostap monthly last month. Due 2nd jab tomorrow, I'm also on tibalone add back and the mini pill.

The only side effect I can talk of really suffering was severe fatigue but it was only a few weeks post op when I started the injections and was suffering MRSA infections in 2 incisions so it could have been that which caused the tiredness not the prostap🤷‍♀️

I thought everything was going smoothly and was impressed with the meds and actually had hope in that they were doing what they were supposed to do (my body never tolerates any hormone therapies of any sort), unfortunately I'm now on day 8 of continuing bleeding and feel very washed out. My gp has re-referred me back to gynae as he believes the meds are not working for me. I guess I just need to wait for gynae to decide what happens next but I have lost all hope and feel very disheartened with everything I've already put my body through recently. Hope all works out well for you, everybody's bodies do work differently it's just been unfortunate for me.

I'm so very sorry to hear this I do hope you are able to find something that works, they have told me to stop taking the mini pill. I've been on it ten weeks and I only one week of not bleeding heavily on it. Sending you a big hug x

I had mine (Zoladex) only yesterday but already feel like I’ve been hit by a bus, but surely it can’t be that fast acting? Am I overthinking things/psychosomatic. It’s certainly painful over the site. How quickly have people tended to notice side effects? I have also been putting this off for fear of reactions(previously bad) to any gynae medical treatment ☹️

Hi the nurse did tell me it starts to work straight away. My arm was aching last night and for a while it hurt when I lifted it up but that's gone now. I feel more alert then I have for months today. I had prostap. They are looking into whether or not I need to tibolone that gynecology have recommended, and told me to stop taking the mini pill. I hope you feel better soon sending you a big hug x

Mine too was yesterday and I also put it off due to fear of the side effects so I totally understand ❤️

I’ve been told to start Tibolone asap to dampen menopause/protect bones. I’m even nervous taking that, even though it’s for my own good 🙄

I totally understand I'm nervous with anything medical myself. I'm awaiting to hear if they will let me have that, I was told on Monday I could not have the prostrap without it, then when I went for the prostap a doctor has decided I don't need it. But thankfully the nurse is getting it double checked out. But my own research says I need it. I'm getting rather fed up with been told one thing and then another. I hope you have a lovely day sending big hugs x
