Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone has had the prostrap injection,

And what side effects did you get from it. I started bleeding 7 days after having it. But i wasnt due my period. Does it actually work for slowing down endometriosis. Or is it a load of rubbish.

Thanks

Sam

Hi, I've recently finished my 6 month treatment of prostap. I found the side effects pretty bad, hot flushes, head aches, migraines, anxiety, joint ache im sure there were a few more lol going HRT made the side effects manageable.

I bled a week after starting the injection but was due my period didn't bleed any more after that.

The treatment was to slow the rate of endo and make it more manageable so when I went in for second surgery they could easily remove all the endo. My surgery was a success and the consultant said it was a lot easier with the treatment helping x

Hello pickle881,

Thank you for your reply I appreciate it.

I've just started with the headaches but only in a morning when I get up. I'm still getting the bloating and it's getting harder going to the toilet, it really hurts now to go.

Is that because the whole of my bowel is connected.

Thanks

Sam

I had 3 months of prostap in between my operation to shrink the endometriosis lesions down. I didn't experience any side effects and had my periods as normal. However, the consultant said it did make the main surgery easier for him and thus improving the outcome.

Hope this helps.

Hello Stellauk,

Yes thank you that helped, so having this injection makes it easier to operate and get rid of the endometriosis, and not have to have major op. Like hysterectomy or bowel removal. That's what's scaring me more. It's the not knowing.

Thank you

Glad to help. The injection make the endometriosis lesions less vascular so when the operation comes the field is much clearer. It doesn't get rid of endometriosis that can only be achieved through excision surgery.

Best of luck

I had 6 months of injections prior to my hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. I did experience hot flushes that were quite extreme and a few headaches. It did help and I was more flexible (able to move more freely) also surgeon at pre op scan said the endo cyst on my ovary had shrunk.

No bleeding but then I had the coil X
