due to start on zoladex injections next week after laparoscopy not helping with pain or periods. Any advice on them as consultant said can feel quite ill for 2/3 weeks after 1st one so not sure how bad ill be and whether to cancel social plans? Just want to be prepared!
Thanks!

I won’t be taking HRT due to other medical issues and FH of breast & ovarian cancers. So I think that’s why the consultant is warning me of the menopause symptoms as he said can be quite severe in first few weeks!
Understood. I didn’t take HRT the first time (6 months) but did the second time (2 years). For me it wasn’t the beginning it was a general feeling more tired, some weight gain (though I was less active in this period) and hot flushes.
Thank you, I’m hoping I’m not too bad as I already suffer with bad hot flushes now and chronic fatigue but hoping it doesn’t wipe me out haha! Appreciate your help
That’s good to hear it’s not knocked you about too much! I feel like I already have hormonal rage from my hectic cycle haha so hopefully not too bad 🤞🏻 thanks for your advice x
Hello, I'm on my 4th one now. First one was fine no side effects nothing. My joints ache a bit just after the injection but then I was fine. The second one, my joints were achy a lot but I took some menopause supplements that you can find in boots etc and I'm fine now. But i guess we are all different. Good luck
Yes I’ve heard this side affect! I’ve bought some menopause supplements just in preparation too which hopefully helps 🤞🏻 thanks so much for your advice
Hi! I have just stopped zoladex and I cannot recommend this enough. obviously everyone is different and will experience different things, but for me personally it reduced all pain and gave me my life back. The symptoms that I experienced while on the injections included hot flushes, leg and bone pain and weight gain (I was underweight anyway so this has been a positive for me), and of course no periods!. After being on the injections for 2.5 years I have had to stop due to extreme bone pain even taken alongside the tibolone HRT. As for when I started the injections the first 2/3 weeks I did have cramping and was seriously considering not continuing it as I didn't see a difference but it can definitely take a while to adapt to the injection x
That’s so good to hear you’re doing so well with them but unfortunate you have to stop them! I’m worried I’ll be the same, love the injections but then I’ll have to come off them eventually! Thanks so much for your advice, appreciate your help! I’m going to take osteo supplements also as I’m worried about the bone loss side, especially because not taking HRT! Yeah I’ve been told to persevere with them as they settle after a while so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 x
