I had my first prostap injection 6 weeks ago and my second injection two weeks ago to help with pain - I’m 33 and my consultant is reluctant to do another lap yet and won’t discuss a hysterectomy until this course of prostap is completed.
Initially it felt like the pain was minimising (maybe the placebo effect..) but a week since my second injection, the pain is back with a vengeance and is still getting worse. I was really hoping the second one would completely calm everything down.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can it sometimes take a few injections for the pain to stop or at least get a bit easier? A recent ultrasound scan has also shown my ovary has completely stuck down - both ovaries and severe adhesions and the adhesions were removed last July during a lap.
If anyone’s happy to share their experience of this, I would really appreciate it xx

My pain stopped after 1st injection and returned 5 months after last injection.
This info about Prostap:
“The growth of endometriosis is dependent upon the action of hormones. Prostap works by stopping the production of oestrogen and progesterone. This causes areas of endometriosis to become inactive and degenerate. Symptoms such as pain should therefore be reduced or suppressed. The drug produces an ‘artificial menopause’. This is temporary and does not alter your long term fertility.
Unfortunately, the drug is unlikely to ‘cure’ or permanently control endometriosis. Once Prostap treatment is stopped, symptoms can gradually return.”
So ideally it should stop your pain while on injections. 💛
