When will the bleeding end?

Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis, endometriosis and fibroids.

Early this year I came off Visanne to try for a baby. I’ve had a couple of regular periods afterwards so I thought everything was fine.

But this May I bled for 3 weeks, went to the doctor who prescribed tranxemic acid and primolut, which made my periods stopped. After I stopped the meds the bleeding came back again, and it hasn’t stopped since. I went to another doctor who put me back on Visanne and prescribed Decapeptyl injection which I had last week, but I am still yet to see any improvement as I am still bleeding. I’m not talking about mild spotting but full blown heavy period with large blood clots every single day. Oh and the pain is always there and I can’t imagine a day without ibuprofen in my system because of this pain.

Does anybody have the same experience? I thought Decapeptyl was supposed to induce temporary menopause, but why I am still bleeding? Do I wait it out or should I go back to the doctor, is there any other medicine that can stop period instantly? I can’t talk anymore of this bleeding.. 😔😢😭

I think the injection can take a couple of weeks to stop your bleeding, you could ask your gp for some norethindrone to try and stop it while the injection kicks in. I’d also ask them to check your full blood count as you may well need some iron after all the blood loss. Hope you get some relief soon,

Thank you. My latest blood test showed my hemoglobin level at 10, so I am taking iron tablets daily. I will go see the doctor today and ask for this medicine. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to respond. 😊

I am sorry to hear you are in such blood and pain.

I believe the doctor should try some tests to find the reason for bleeding first before describing medications. I dont know the first drugs you named but as per decapeptyl I was on that for 9 month due to same issues as you and depends on each body if takes one month to 1 and half to completely stop the bleeding. For me the first month on injection I had two periods 2 weeks apart but after that it completely stopped and no bleeding at all for several months straight up until abt 6 weeks after the last injection.

The reason for such non stop bleedings could be a inside cavity fibroids. I never had them myself but few of friends did have those fibroids and long bleedings and irregular as a result. Doctor should order a hysteroscopy for you snd remove those fibroids if any.

I also had a very large adenomyosis and many many including some very big intramural ones but never had an irregular bleedings.

But I had very painful periods always in my life due to endo and adeno ( diagnosed endo very late almost 30 yrs after getting my first period and after at least ine cycle of ivf, adenomyosis diagnosed 100% after 2 laps without definate answers and only during an open myomectomy)

Being on decapeptyl ( for me called triptorelin / Dipheralin) I had lots of side effects but much more bearable after adding add back therapy but the whole time I got a complete break from pelvic pains)

Hope things go great for you too

Xx

Hi, thanks for your response. I will ask the doctor about this hysteroscopy, it makes sense what you said about fibroids. Sometimes I feel like something is bleeding internally that’s why it just wouldn’t stop.

I’m glad you found relief regarding your situation, it makes me hopeful too. Thanks a lot for responding to me 😊

These are managed strategies and usual recommendation for adenomyosis is hysterectomy unless you’re lucky enough to be in New Zealand
