Fallopian Tube Removal

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all keeping well.

I’m having a laparoscopy at the end of July to have my Fallopian tubes removed or clipped in preparation for ivf treatment. Has anyone experienced this before and can share what to expect? I’ve had a laparoscopy before so not so concerned about that part, more so how I might feel afterwards.

I also have my preop next week so anything I should ask at that?

Thank you in advance ❤️

Hi dear

I wish you good luck in your surgery. I had this and there was nothing specific about it to make a difference with a regular lap. There was nothing I felt about tube being clipped or removed. The only thing for me was that my left tube had hydrosalpinx and there was a big cyst adjutant to that between tube ovaries and uterus I believe.

So in the first lap I had in 2017 left tube has been clipped or coagulated ( if I remember it right) but transfer was t successful ( I had lots of other stuff including endometriosis , adenomyosis large fibroids still inside).

The tumor on left grew and hasnt been resolved so we ended up removing the tube and tumor together again another lap 2019. I haven’t had another transfer yet due to the same issues up until now . We are waiting for my uterus to get healed from the major operation I had on it to remove all fibroids adenomyoma etc.

I don’t know about your case but if I was there I probably removed it in the first time instead of clipping. I think clipping is non reversal so if you cannot use your tube in future it might b better to prevent it from getting in the way of transfer all together. But your Dr would be a better source to consult with.

The recovery would be the same as lap itself nothing different, and no odds feelings afterward like I said. Hope this helps

Take care

Hi Maryca294,

Thank you so much for your reply! It’s really helpful!

So in my case, I’ve got bilateral hydrosalpinx (both tubes blocked), and that’s been caused by my stage 4 endo. My consultant is aiming to remove both tubes but unfortunately a lot of my reproductive organs have been fused together from my endo growth, so it may be tricky to access my tubes. If this is the case, she’s going to clip my tubes instead.

Thanks again for your reply.

Take care! Xxx

No problem happy to help. With this situation makes sense if your dr wanna clip them instead of removing., but

One other thing I remembered to share with you is that since my left tube has been removed my left ovary hasn’t been active much and all ivfs after that they retreived mature eggs only from my right. Before removing the left tube was opposite. I am not sure if this is a coincidence or removing the tube impacted the left ovary. I know they didn not touch the ovary only tube and a big tumor in left adnexa has been removed.

So you may want to ask the specialist if you wanna proceed to egg retrieval after the operation.

I hope things go great for you and u have a great results regardless of the type of operation.
