So my fiancé and I are planning to try for a baby soon, I am super excited but also very nervous about coming off the Mirena coil (which I have had since being diagnosed with endo in 2019) and my medication Pregabalin (which I have been taking for 2 years now at a dose of 225mg twice a day).
My endo is much better controlled than a few years ago now, in part due to surgery and these treatments, but I think also because I left a toxic workplace which was causing a huge amount of stress, and we moved back to an area nearer friends and family post-pandemic, so I am generally much happier and under less pressure. I still have flare ups but they last for less time, and my background pain is lower, too. I start a doctoral training programme in September to become a Clinical Psychologist with the NHS - I can’t wait, but I’m aware it could bring stress in its own ways and that I need to be careful about how I look after myself. This coincides with when we’re planning to start trying, too.
Does anyone have any advice on coming off the coil and pregabalin from personal experience of going through something similar, or with other treatments? I will start to reduce the Pregabalin next month slowly, then the coil afterwards. It has been so long now since I wasn’t on any birth control or medication of some sort for the endo, it feels quite daunting!
