Started my IVF journey now to be told I need an op as the endo is pressing on my ureter tube and i need an op to stop my kindey getting damaged. Got my pre-assessment in and getting nervous now is there anything i need to do to prepare for surgery or bring with me to the hospital it lools like an overnight stay. One step forward two back its defo a rollercoaster journey.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Hi Sunflower, I am in a really similar position. I had a failed round of IVF in April privately. I had been discharged from the gynaecological NHS clinic in March to go private. Now I'm being referred back by IVF clinic to get a laparoscopy to remove a large endometrioma cyst inside the right ovary and also my left ovary is stuck to a blood vessel and possibly my bowel - so essentially they cannot take any eggs from IVF out as they cannot access them. I think the Endometriosis might also be affecting my egg quality too. It's so frustrating as I am just turned 38 already... we are considering going private for the endometriosis op as we don't want to wait another year on a list (we already waited 9 months for a polyp op etc)... I know how disheartening all this stuff can feel. Good luck on your journey!

Hi i had the same problem of my endo affecting my uterer and my kidney . I had a stent fitted to help my kidney in march ( im not sure if you will be having this op?). It was fairly straight forward and done under general anesthetic. I was actually only given 3 days notice before my op so pre advice i cant help as much on but afterward drink plenty of water to help flush your kidneys afterwards .

Thank you so much for your reply and advice its really helpful. Yes i have been told i need a stent fitted to protect the tube and could have it removed the same day or it could be in for 6 weeks. If u dont mind me asking how long did u have the stent in for?

I had mine fitted in march and was told i will either have it removed when i have my lap or replaced in 6 months time while a plan is made for me. Whichever comes first really
