Expedited Appointment

Hello everyone, I received a message from my GP surgery yesterday explaining that they have requested an expeditited appointment with a gynaecologist sooner rather than in 16 months time. Has anyone had this and how long did it take to actually see the consultant?

HiYes I was referred routinely to gynae based on symptoms alone, I had no clue what the wait time was. Following referral I had 2 USS and a CA125, the USS showed a suspected endometrioma and infiltrated uterus, the CA125 came up high at 141 so gp then referred me on 2ww to see gynae, I'm due to be seen next week (13 days after referral request). I don't know your circumstances or if the Dr has just requested a routine expedition but good luck whatever happens.

Hello, I had to look up USS and CA125, I hope that everything is ok for you. I've ended up in A&E 4 times this year already with stroke like symptoms and potential progesterone intolerance.

Please let us know how you get on x

It all depends on where you live unfortunately, I had my referral expedited but still haven't offered an appointment 18 months later (I've gone private now). Where abouts do you live? If it's a smaller/less populated area this could mean a 3-6m wait x

HiHope you don't mind me asking, have you gone private to speak to gynae or will you be having treatment privately as well?

You've had a long wait. Hope you get sorted soon.

I'm going private for consult and for surgery although I know people have the private consult and then get listed on the NHS for procedure. I'm super lucky we can get private insurance through hubby's work, otherwise is £250 for an appointment and between 6-8k for a laparoscopy 😣

I had been waiting to see my consultant for 3 months until i asked to have my gp contact the hospital for me i then finally got an appointment for 8 weeks time. So hopefully, it speeds up you being seen.
