Gynae Appointment

I have a gynae appointment (NHS) to hopefully start investigating endometriosis after speaking with my GP. Does anyone have any tips or advice for the initial appointment regarding this? I’m really nervous because I don’t want to be dismissed with my symptoms, really struggling to live a happy and normal life!

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks, Meg

tell them all your symptoms etc and if possible push for an MRI- thats one of the better ways for a diagnosis

Hey! I found it really helpful using a pain diary to record how I was feeling day to day endometriosis-uk.org/sites/.... Record as much as you can prior to your appointment and take it with you 😊. Just be totally honest about how you’re feeling and what your symptoms are. Hopefully they can order an MRI x

Hi, I’m in this boat too , I’ve had my nhs appointment but it’s not until December but because things are getting worse I’ve called gp again to try and get it sooner. We will see what happens. I will try this link too .

I wouldn't fear about being dismissed if anything a gynae appointment they are more understanding of the pain and the condition I couldn't believe how lovely and supportive they are. I'm still at the beginning of getting help after years of putting up with things.

defo take a pain diary and there’s a really good webinar on the endometria uk website about getting the most out of your appointments 💕

When I finally got my gynaecology review I didn’t feel dismissed at all. Make a list of all your symptoms in case you get flustered and everything goes out your head.

I had an internal exam during the appointment which found I had a frozen pelvis and was then sent for an MRI which I waited for about 3/4 weeks for. Finally after years and years of being dismissed by the GP I was diagnosed with endo via the mri. Now waiting surgery but been told it could be next year some time!
