So I finally have my appointment tomorrow at the hospital With a gynaecologist & honestly I am very apprehensive . I’ve had a couple of bad experiences with doctors and overlooking possible conditions because of my age & because of the physical discomfort of examinations . I’m trying to keep positive though .
I was just wondering if any of you had taken a chaperone to the appointment , such as a parent or a partner etc & if I have to make any arrangements with the hospital for this.
Thankyou x

Thankyou so much ! I’m planning on taking my partner as he is the one who sees me in the pain the most , just wanted to see if other people had bought people along . Just hoping that the consultant is nice and respectful x
Hey, I had to see 7 different gynaes in order to finally schedule a lap which is in 2 weeks. Bad experiences are like my speciality haha.
I’ve never taken my mum into appointment as she gets uncomfortable talking about periods and don’t wanna tell her certain things.
However you can totally take someone with you and just tell your gynae. Some normally ask if you want a parent or partner etc to be there especially if they see you sat with them. That’s what my new gynae did anyways. Xx
Thankyou so much !! I’ve been going to the gp etc for years on my own now because of my mum working and I thought that maybe it’s time to stop thinking I can take on the world & let someone come and support me , because to be Honest I’m very nervous .
I’m sorry you’ve ha bad experiences in the past , but hopefully you’ll soon be on the road to feeling better xx
Yeah I’m the same, they are so painful but the nurses can be really nice. Mine was giving me breathing techniques and the gynae was telling me I’m doing great 😂 xx
I have brought my Mam along to both my gynae appointments and didn’t feel like it helped at all. However, I think it may have been a different storey if she wasn’t there with me. Moral support is reassuring because it can be emotional when you’re in there xx
