issues with Zalleta pill

Hello ladies,

nice to be here - this is my first post! I have just recently been diagnosed with endometriosis, physically it doesn’t look bad, just my womb is stuck to my uterus or something and there no scarring or anything like that, but they have found a very teeny tiny cyst in my left ovary. Because of issues and irregularities surrounding my period, they have diagnosed me with endometriosis, and they suggested I take the pill to avoid this getting worse by stopping my periods completely. My periods were getting worse and worse in terms of symptoms, sometimes making me bed bound and other times perfectly fine with zero symptoms! I was in 2 minds about taking the pill, but thought to try it. I travel a lot for work and I just got a new prescription for the pill and was told to take on first day of next period - which is whilst I am away for work! I am still waiting for my medical insurance to come through for medical coverage in the country I am in, but I started taking the pill on second day, as I forgot to take it the first day. I continued taking it daily and my period did NOT stop! It has been heavy, clots, large fleshy clots / discharge (sorry TMI) and all the other symptoms that come with it - including being ratty, constant pain, cramps, feeling like a leaking tap etc. Horrible. Absolutely horrible, especially at a time when I NEED to work! I am in constant pain with cramps etc … I don’t want to be near people, cannot concentrate … has been going on now for 45 days.

Last week, I decided to stop taking this pill, as it was causing havoc and now today the bleeding FINALLY has stopped!!!! started to feel better also!

Has anyone else experienced this with Zalletta? What pill have you taken that has actually stopped your period? Because now after this nightmare, I just want to never see one again! Thank you ☺️

Was your diagnosis by a lap or scan?

Hi, it was done by scan - the one where they stick something with a camera inside you. It was in there for like 2 hours 😩 lots of prodding and moving around

Then this sounds like severe (rectovaginal) endo, the hallmark of which is when the bowel is stuck to the uterus, referred to as an obliterated pouch of Douglas. If the cyst is an endometrioma it doesn't really matter how big it is, endometriomas are almost always associated with rectovaginal endo and the left side is the most commonly affected.

Medical treatment is not appropriate - it only treats symptoms not endo itself. Depending on the treatment pathway in your country you need treating in a specialist endo centre by a multidisciplinary team skilled in excision.

Wow! It seems like you know your stuff! I think you are probably right. The specialists who did the scan didnt mention anything about the need for excision, just suggested i either go for the mirena coil or pill to stop my periods from coming on.

Hi,I was the same. Took for 2 years for the doctor to convince me to take medication. Only started to take now cuz it appeared on my lungs. He was about to give me Cerazette, which is similar to yours but I never took.Try medication with diegonest. Mine called Zalkya and that helps.

I've tried many pills and got effected by bad side effects on them. Only thing that stopped my periods was monthly injection but only allowed six of those. Now got to wait for a lab to be done then got told got to try the coil or nothing.

It also depends how old you are too. If you are young and want a family at some point they'll be reluctant to give you the injections which shut your ovaries down. The injection is reversible but it takes a while. It sounds like you are super sensitive to estrogen like me so the pill will only make it worse. The coil could work. I would have liked the coil but my endo has moved my cervix so much they couldn't even fit it during surgery. Like others mentioned you need an endometriosis specialist and probably an MRI scan before they decide next steps.
