Hi all, I am new to the group, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis 2 years ago. I experienced a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen and went to A&E I was sent for a scan where a 7cm cyst was found on my left ovary and was told I have to have surgery as well as been told I have Endometriosis. I was told neither of these would be causing the pain in my right side. Since then the cyst has disappered and reappeared several times on either ovary following varius pelvic and abdominal scans, however, none of my scans have explained what the pain is in my abdominal.
I have read that Endometriosis can cause pain in my right side however no doctor or specialist will confirm this is what is causing the pain. I am now quite scared, has anyone else experienced this pain? Its almost like a stitch, its not severe and can sometimes disappear, on a scale of 1-10 the highest the pain has reached is probably a 6, it feels like I am being stabbed by a sharp object sometimes and then sometimes its just bareable.

Sonographers in A and E and general gynaecology departments will usually only be trained to find ovarian endo but you can have it anywhere in your pelvis, and rarely outside. The cysts you have/had will be endometriomas which is ovarian endo. But what is important to know is that these are most often associated with what is called rectovaginal endo which is behind the uterus and can cause pain on either side but these basic sonographers won't be trained to look for that. Also you might have another form of endo as well called superficial which won't show on any scans but can cause significant pain. It is really important that you are seen by someone with an interest in endo who can arrange a more detailed scan to see if you have rectovaginal endo as this needs to be caught early. Will dm you with more info.
Thank you for your reply, the info you have shared is very interesting and I am going to look into it further. I have joined the group you suggested thank you.
same as me, I have had a hysterectomy for rectovaginal endo 6 yrs ago and then since had further excision surgery 2 yrs ago. I have been told there’s a fibroma on my left ovary but my pain has always been on the right and sometimes it’s unbearable and gets worse cyclical as I still have my ovaries but the drs all say I have had too many surgeries and there’s too much scar tissue to operate any further so have to manage the symptoms. I’ve had my bladder prolapse repair op last week so recovering from that at the mo but I really wish I knew the cause of the right sided pain because I always think my appendix is bursting when the pains bad and have been to a and e so many times but no answers. It’s very tiring living in pain. X
I also have lower right pelvic pain with no explanation at the beginning. I had a dignostic lap and all endo was found on left side but my pain is right side. I was so confused but when I had my post op follow up the gynae said that pain can radiate to the other side it's not always where the endo is. My endo wasn't removed as need to have surgery with endo specialist. I then had a mri scan feb this year and it showed that my bowel is attached to uterus on the right side with adhesions so now I'm putting the right sided pain down to that but no adhesions was found during op in Nov. I always keep thinking that my appendix is going to burst due to the pain. My pain is nearly everyday. Have you had surgery? Where was your endo found?
It's normal with endo. They aren't going to say yay or nay because then they're liable. Endo causes all sorts of terrible feelings. And sometimes, it's one side or the other, but it's definitely the endo. If you still have the cyst, it could be that too. Mine goes back and forth, like someone jamming the finger into one side. Then a few days later, it may be the other. Don't let anyone medically gaslight you!
