Pain back 15 months after Excision surgery - what next?

Hi,In December 2021 I had Laproscopy with excision surgery privately through and Endometriosis specialist due to medical insurance I have through work.

I had stage 2/3 endo in pouch of Douglas and around my sciatic nerve which was very debilitating and the op has rectified this, or so I thought.

In the last month or two my fatigue is back as is my pain. I'm in pain all day everyday again. Some days it is manageable and others it isn't. This is what prompted me to go to doctor before my last surgery.

I'm worried my endometriosis is back having had it excised I thought it was gone as that was the best treatment available. My GP said they will do another ultrasound then maybe refer me back to gynecology but if I've already had the "gold standard" treatment is there much more they can do? I'm on mini-pill (progesterone only) at the moment.

Was I stupid to think the surgery would have solved all my problems, and could it be back so soon?

For context I'm 28 year old female, no children.

Many thanks for your input

Did you have a scan prior to the lap and was the surgery done in a private specialist centre?

The NHS ultrasound came back clear and got fobbed off as bad periods again. I was convinced something else was going on so went through private medical insurance to get an appropriate specialist. Private ultrasound showed one of my ovaries wasn't visible but looked "clear" like NHS ultrasound but the private endometriosis specialist said all my symptoms pointed to Endometriosis and the only way to really diagnose and treat it was through surgery which I had in Dec 21 through private specialist.

That's awful. I think the GP should definitely refer you back to gynaecology whatever they see on the ultrasound.

They could prescribe Prostap3 - I got a lot of relief from it, whereas the mini pill didn't help.

Also, there's a few different progestins available, some might be more effective than others. In the endo centre I was at they tended to use the Mirena coil, not tried it myself though.
