6 months since excision surgery, pain with toilet

Hello,

I had excision surgery throughout my pelvis and bowel, back in November.

I previously has pain when passing a stool and urine, before this last surgery.

It took a while to recover I had alot of pain after surgery, but can 100% feel the benefits now.

However it is still painful at times going to the toilet. I think it could be when I've had pulses or legumes.

Has anyone experienced anything else similar?

I'm concerned I haven't healed or the endo is coming back.

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi Amelie8, I also had extensive surgery 4 months ago - throughout my pelvis and bowel. Am still feeling pain everyday! Different to before but still pain. How long did it take you to recover? My surgeon keeps saying it'll take at least 6 months but am starting to get worried!

If it helps my surgeon said it will take a while for the bowel, I'm not sure about you but I would've had the scar tissue and endometriosis on my bowel for years and years. So it takes a while for it to adjust after surgery.

Thanks, Hannah

Hello,

My doc said it would take 6/9 weeks. However I feel like I turned a corner after 2 months.

I do try my best to follow a dairy free, no alcohol, sugar free diet, and that 100% helps.

Of course I still have niggles and pain. But nothing like before the surgery.

Try to be kind to yourself, and take your time healing. I read somewhere it can take 6 to 12 months to fully heal. We have to remember the scars on the outside heal but we can't see what is going on, on the inside.

I'm still getting bad bowel pain, I think it might be when I eat something my tummy doesn't like.

Sending healing hugs. I hope you turn a corner soon.

You were completely right. I got to the 4 months mark and turned a corner as well. I've been eating really well and can finally exercise again!

Hey, can I ask, did they excise it off the bowel or did they resect part of your bowel?

If you notice it with foods like lentils, my physio explained they're much harder to digest. Therefore a lot more movement of the bowel is required. As you've had surgery it's perfectly possible that waring these foods are upsetting/irritating the bowel because of the surgery, rather than the endo coming back.

Don't worry so much. I'd keep a diary of symptoms if you aren't already xx

Hello

He excise it off (scraped).

That makes sense them being harder to digest. Must be why I get the pain. Thank you for sharing that.

Yes I'm keeping track with what I'm taking in.

Thank you. :)
