Unusually heavy period that's lasted more than 2 weeks.

The clue is in the title really. I've always had pretty average periods in terms of flow. They haven't lasted really more than a week bar the tailing off. I'm currently experiencing a period which (sorry for the overshare) is basically just falling out of me. I cough, it comes out, I move a certain way, it comes out. The clots are becoming more frequent and its showing no sign of stopping. I've had to upgrade my pad absorbency. I'm planning on calling the doctor next week, but I just wondered if anyone had experienced something similar and what you do or if there's anything you take to stop it. I posted reasonably recently saying that the period is starting while taking the pill which isn't normal for me and I'm still taking it and it's not doing anything to stop this period train!

I’ve just had the same thing- it lasted for three weeks and was also accompanied by pretty severe pain at one point (bad enough to send me to A&E). The doctors eventually prescribed me tranexamic acid. Have you tried taking that? Within about three days of taking that, the bleeding finally slowed down and stopped. Needless to say, pretty sure I’m anaemic now 😂 make sure you get some iron tablets too and maybe try and book a cervical screening because this counts as abnormal bleeding.

Thanks so much for your reply. I've heard of it, but I've never had it. Hopefully I can get an appointment with a doctor tomorrow and go from there. I'm worried about anaemia too. I'm sorry to hear you ended up in A&E. I'm hoping the pain doesn't get too bad.
