I had my laprascopy, cyst removal and mirena insertion back in August last year.
Didn't have my first period until Jan/Feb this year and after years of agonising, painful and heavy periods I relished in the break.
But this is my 2nd.. third period now and while the pain is nowhere near as bad the other symptoms seemed to have ramped up to compensate. I'm still having ridiculously heavy flow, I'm spaced out, my boobs absolutely kill leading up to it and I'm so fatigued I have to sleep all day.
I thought this was supposed to make things better. Is it too soon to tell? Should I go back to my GP?

I don't have personal experience of mirena but side effects do include heavy bleeding and sore boobs and these can take a while (many months) to settle down. I'm sure some other members of our community will reach out to share their experience with mirena, but it's definitely worth going back to your GP to get checked out. Take a list of your unwanted symptoms since your surgery (as detailed as you can) and write down any questions you may have. Best of luck x
As I understand mirena proviseds less progesterone than the POP pill. If your bleeding is heavy it's quite safe to take a double dose of the pill, that should stop the bleeding completely. It helped me hugely more than the operation did. Maybe you could get the mirena taken out and take a double dose of the POP it might do the trick. It takes about a month to work. Ask your doc or better still ask your gynae, you can contact the gynae directly if you have been reffered to them previously. Good luck xx
