When does this get better?!

I had my lap in April and I was feeling better for a few weeks then the pain came back with a vengeance! I've been in pain everyday for 6-8 weeks

My gps keep telling me I have to wait 3-6 months to see any affect (I had the mirena coil fitted at the same time). Is there any truth is this? Should I be patience or keep pushing my gps to do something?

It's seriously affecting my work life, my social life and my general health. I can barely make it to work these days much less to do anything else. I just don't think I have the patience to wait another 2/3 months before anything is done. I want my life back!

I've had a few laparoscopies and have always felt much better right away, and the pain doesn't come back for months and months...due to have my next one in a few weeks time actually. My consultant always tells me that I'll feel like a new woman afterwards and she's right!

When I had the last lap I also had a mirena coil fitted and haven't had any issues with that either. Has your GP checked that your coil is in the right place? I had a friend who experienced her coil going wonky (technical term) and in the end had it removed as it was causing her too much pain.

You know your body better than anyone else, and if something doesn't feel right you're the best person to make that judgement. I'm pretty impatient so if it were me I'd be pushing my GP to get me referred back to a specialist.

I did get the coil checked and it's in fine as I was worried about that.

Im going to go private now since my gp today me there was nothing else they can do which is clearly not true. Hopefully that'll be more successful

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned in my last post that I had to go private to get any real progress with my treatment. My GP told me to 'wait and see', but when I told him that I didn't want to wait and that I had private insurance he actually said 'well why didn't you say that sooner' and I got an appointment with my consultant within a week - ridiculous.

I really hope you get the answers you need soon.

It really is ridiculous. My gp's haven't been helpful at all. This site has given me more information then they have.

I have the same problem :( my first "period" after my lap was fine! I was amazed! So light and barely pained - but since then, for the same amount of time as you actually i have been in almost constant pain. The level of it fluctuates but it's always there. I'm off work at the moment it's so bad.

I was also given the same advice about "waiting and seeing" for at least 6 months. I can't go on like this for that long - did you get any further with the private Dr? I'm sure it's expensive but I'm getting to the point where I'm willing to try anything.

I've only just been referred so not seen one yet.

It'll cost but it's worth doing because I can't live like this much longer.

I don't blame you. It's how I feel too. Just like I've been left to it now. My symptoms are only getting worse as time goes on. I hope you get seen soon! If you remember, let me know if they have any better advice than the GP. I may look down that route if you have some luck with someone that seems interested xxx

I think it just feels good to be understood and taken seriously - and that's how my consultant treats me. I had to go private though which is costly, but for me I think it's worth it as I refuse to let this take over my life. For me this condition is as mental as it is physical and I know that if I'm feeling low the pain is worse too.
