Employment Support Allowance

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone could help. I’ve received an SSP1 letter from payroll and unfortunately due to ill health, surgery and numerous sick days with deep infiltrating endometriosis I have reached the 28 week SSP allowance.

I just feel like crying all the time at the moment it’s hard enough trying to go into work 4 days a week without receiving letters relating to esa entitlements, being able to park on site at work (feedback from car parking staff member in NHS was simply ‘if you have mobility issues apply for a blue badge’ ) if only it were that simple :(

please can anyone offer any advice regarding support, benefits etc I’m trying incredibly hard to stay in work and I know so many can relate to the hardship this awful condition brings but I just feel like there is so little support financially or otherwise and it’s just making me feel so stressed. I had part of my bowel shaved during my last surgery in November and prior to this was told I had mild endometriosis by a general gynaecologist. My partner and I utilised money that should have been for our wedding to fund the surgery under an excision specialist and I haven’t felt a great deal of physical benefit unfortunately. I Just feel like my head is all over the place.

I have no advice I’m afraid but feel your emotional pain 😞 I too went down to SSP this month and I am very stressed with how I will pay bills and my rent in 2 days time. I’m a single mum and get a bit of support through Universal credits but I have been messaging them all week and they have basically said nothing they can do until next payment period. Stress we could do withh by out. I’m due to have a full hysterectomy in the next 10 weeks and unlikely to be well enough to return to work before op.

thinking of you and wishing you well through your surgical recovery. It’s stressful and impactful enough without having to worry about how you will pay your rent.

I found a charity to advise me on this stuff as now rehoused after being homeless and lived in a B&B due to my disability. Lost my job and lived on £74.20 per week for 10 months when the assessment period is 12 weeks.

What do you need to know?

Order a PIP form today and get guidance on how to properly answer the questions. It gets backdated to when you order the form.

You may also be able to still get some U/C.

Thankyou so much for your reply, I’m so sorry you were in that situation for so long. I hope things are a little better but I appreciate that a disability impacts on every aspect of your life. I currently still work, I’m just fearful that i now won’t receive ssp and what the future will look like because it isn’t as though things will change. The system surrounding support for chronic illness is wrong. What is U/C?

I agree, it’s wrong. U/C is Universal Credit x

even though you still work, you are entitled to claim PIP and a minimum of £280 per month x
