i have been off the prostap for 2 months now; 3 months next week and my memory is terrible, when i was on the prostap it seemed to have dropped a lot and i got told everything would be ‘normal’ after 4-5 weeks, im. early 3 months down the line and it’s not getting better for me…. i still haven’t had any bleed, i have never had a set period routine but i’m really stressing about it now?
i’m not sure if i’m being dramatic but i’m struggling to get into my doctors,

I was on prostap monthly injections from Oct 21 to Sept 22
It’s taken til 2 weeks ago for my period to return and when it did it was for 12 days, I’ve had some terrible brain fog but I feel like it’s a lot better than it was. I was in perimenopause for approx 10years leading up to chemical menopause, and found when I started prostap I had about 3 months of brain fog then too. The gynae said I may even head into a natural menopause now.
Apparently taking omega 3 and fish oil supplements is meant to be helpful so I may try that regime.
Hope you are ok, it can be really scary this process.
i just wish they had told me more of the side effects before offering me it - im only 25 and o feel like i should have never been offered it knowing what the side effects are if thst makes sense!
thank you, i may try the fish oil and omega 3 im willing to give anything a go right now😂
It's really worrying how readily gynaecologists push these meds (GnRH agonists) on women. They can have their place but the ESHRE guideline is clear that careful consideration must be given when prescribing to young women, with the potential side effects clearly understood.
In so far as how long it will take for your periods to return this is very variable and can be a few months for some so try not to worry. The drug alters the way your brain instructs the ovaries to produce hormones so even though the drug itself will wear off quickly, it can take some time for the brain to register that your ovaries need to start working again.
Consideration also needs to be given to your endo treatment generally - symptoms, what stage your endo is etc - as these meds can only ever be a short term solution. x
I feel like they don't provide enough information, I got thrown the slip from the box the prostap was housed in. It nowhere near covered the absolute rediculously long list of side effects we 'might' experience. I don't feel I was informed enough. Give the predicament I was in having open abdominal hysterectomy I kind of felt obliged to put myself through it, not realising to the full extent what this would mean. My fibroids are large 14cm but they didn't really cause me much in terms of discomfort.
Hi.Yes prostrap effect your memory and stop periods, they are used to put you in temperoray menopause .It stops your ovary functions for a time being. If you can'nt tolerate its side effects ,do'nt gobfor the third dose.May be your doctor pushes u to continue it but stick on ur decession. If it does not bearable for you its not for you.It have long term side effects as well it is usually not recommended more than 6 months.
I am in the same position, I've just told the hospital that I am refusing anymore prostap. My memory fog is terrible since the prostap. I am hoping over the 3 months they say it takes to get back to rights I will be OK. It is scary though. Keep going back to do the same thing twice or thinking I've done it but haven't..crazy x
thank you everyone!!! i feel like i have so many questions and no matter how many times i ask/speak with a. doctor im just not getting anywhere.
my pain has come back worse more than before i’ve been told to take buscopan…. im having problems with my bladder, im struggling with leaking all the time now and i just don’t feel like a 26 year old🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
