Contraception for endo

I have recently been diagnosed with mild endometriosis at the age of 29, I am looking to start a family in the next couple of years.

Currently I am on no contraception and have heard the mirena coil or the pill is best to slow down my endometriosis developing any further.

Wondered if I can have some guidance of what is best xx

Hi I’ve not had children so I can’t help much. Getting advice from an Endo and fertility expert might give you more info on what to use with the aim of children in a few years. I know from other posts that Endo can sometimes cause issues but some woman have no issues and others control the symptoms with diet and manage to have children.

It’s such an individual disease, how bad are your symptoms? Did you have a diagnostic lap or a scan,

I had a merina coil for seven years and it completely controlled my symptoms. I had no periods at all during that time so no pain. It didn’t stop the endo and adenomyosis from developing and when I started having periods again they were painful but the seven years of nothing were great

I don’t know what impact it has on future fertility though.

Everyone’s different but it really worked for me.

Try this reading for a sense of how to support yourself before pregnancy whilst having endo. You may need surgery as well but good solid self care will enable you to weather and improve your chances. Heal Endo by Katie Edmonds.
