Zoladex worth it?

Hi,

I have stage 4 endo with 2 large endometriomas on each ovary plus adeno.

I currently have the coil and take desogestrel continuously.

I saw my consultant yesterday who said i need a hysterectomy and probably some bowel work. They want to start me on zoladex while i wait.

At the moment i am having very little pain with the treatments i have and just spotting, no real period.

I am self employed so no pay of i don't work and ive looked at the side effects of the zoladex and to be honest it has terrified me.

When you started did you have to take time off while your body adjsuted? Are the side effects as awful as they list on the leaflet?

Thank you

I didn’t take time time off during my first month on zolodex. It was really tough and eventually I got HRT from the Gynecologist and have been ok since.

Had lap with excision and also have a Mirena in and beginning to feel better!!

Hi, glad you are feeling better now. Sucj a relief when something works. The consultant wants to give my hrt straight away with it so maybe this will make the side effects less. Did it affect your vision at all?

I don’t remember my vision being affected. But as I sit here, got pain behind my right eye and have taken pain meds.

It’s a lot of synthetic hormones in Your body and be so gentle with yourself and be so compassionate with yourself! X x x

Do DM if you want to ask anything or just someone to be there x x x

my first question is do you want a hysterectomy? I find many doctors think this is a solution to endo which of course it isn’t. Don’t be rushed into making a decision. I had zoladex it was ok some side affects but nothing major and it did help with pain. The best thing I ever did was the coil though and haven’t needed anything else since. x

Hi, i am actually not sure on the hysterectomy. Its a massive operation isnt it. I have 4 children so its not even that i want anymore, my family is complete. I think the coil and pill are actually helping me at the moment and my pain is so minimal. I dont want to refuse the surgery and then if it gets bad again and i have to wait. Its such a hard choice.

hi I had a laparoscopy to remove endometrial tissue 2 years ago followed by prostap (1yr), had some undesirable side effects so switched to Zoladex for nearly a year. Whilst it didn’t cure me, because I also have adenomyosis, my consultant advised it would help to prepare the body for hysterectomy & can lesson bleeding. Evidently after my full hysterectomy one week ago, there was no further growth of endometrial tissue but definitely indicators to adenomyosis (waiting for biopsy) and so far minimal bleeding. Feel free to message me if you want to chat more, I have time resting after the op 😊

Hi, so you preferred zoladex over the prostap? How are you feeling after your hysterectomy?

hi, I suffered with bad headaches on Prostap & continued to bleed, so yes preferred Zoladex. I definitely put on weight after starting Zoladex but should not be something to put you off.

Feeling ok so far thank you, trying to take it slow & not overdo things 😊
