I was sent for a scan in November and told that I have a cyst with low level echoes that showed aigns of being a endomertia cyst. Now after many years of suffering with symptoms of endo and never being taken seriously my doctor has reluctantly sent a refral off to my local BSGE endo center. It is now in the process of being reviewed but now I'm worried that it will be rejected for some reason. Is there a set criteria you need to meet to be able to be seen by them ?

Hi - are you in England?
yes I am
So in England treatment in BSGE centres is for severe endo which is defined in the NHS England treatment specification as:
'Severe endometriosis for the purpose of this specification is defined as either deeply infiltrating endometriosis or recto-vaginal endometriosis. Deeply infiltrating endometriosis exists where the disease invades at least 5mm below the tissue surface and can occur in a variety of sites, such as; bladder, pelvic sidewalls, ovaries, pelvic brim, bowel surface and diaphragm. Recto-vaginal endometriosis is endometriosis which involves the recto-vaginal septum area (recto-vaginal septum, vagina, utero-sacral ligaments, rectum). There are many classification systems for endometriosis but none are universally accepted. The definition used here would accord with grade 3 and 4 disease used in the revised American fertility Score.
There is an exception for non-severe endo if you have had unsuccessful treatments in general gynaecology - so this would include medical treatments and I would think at least one lap.
Referrals to centres isn't through the usual E-referral route (previously choose and book) and many GPs refer incorrectly as it should be direct to a centre but I think it unlikely you will get accepted unless you have evidence of deep disease. The annoying thing is that endometriomas such as you have are almost always associated with severe rectovaginal disease but you would need some evidence by way of an advanced scan (ultrasound/MRI) that shows it. On the NHS these advanced sonographers are usually connected with the centres so it's a bit of a catch 22.
Those who have the funds often have a private advanced scan to get this evidence - around £300 or so.
