I have had 4 months worth of decapeptyl, had 2 heavy periods and my moods have been worse.

I am just wondering if anyone elses moods have been terrible on decapeptyl injections, I have stopped the injections now because of how bad I have been emotionally.

hello I stopped them after 7 months. They were horrific for me, the only way I can explain it is that I had very dark moods and emotions which isn’t me. Gained weight. Felt horrendous on decepeptyl. Now been off it for a year and my weight is slowly going back down now.

X

I was exactly like you but for me my moods never really improved, a lot of depression still. They are the worst thing I ever allowed happen to me.

they are horrendous aren’t they, I was never warned about them beforehand either. Still dealing with the effects of it now 🤮

I wasn't either!I'd never heard of anything like it or knew anyone who was on them. My GP refused to give me any further injections and said that they shouldn't be allowed to be used anymore. I have no idea if these after effects will ever go.

I hope the effects will go for us at some point. I decided I was coming off the injection and didn’t tell my doctor until after I did it. Just couldn’t cope with it x

I'm a year off them since October last and sadly still not myself. X

that’s awful, these injections should come with a warning as if we knew how we would feel, I bet a lot of us would refuse them x

Agreed.

My 75yr old dad thankfully is the other side of prostate cancer and after an operation to remove the prostate he had to have radiotherapy with 2 x 6months worth injection of decapeptyl and only for me having been on them twice a) I wouldn't have known how to help him and b) he was exactly like I felt and refused to take the 2nd one as he was so scared of how they took hold of him that even his dr agreed it didn't suit him and admitted that they don't suit everyone and that was last autumn and he's still on citalopram to help him over the worst of the side effects. It's awful seeing him go through it and poor man turned to me saying he understands now what I was going through. Apparently these injections are mainly for fighting cancers and they give them to women suffering from endometriosis!

poor dad what a shame, hope he starts to feel better soon. I haven’t really heard much about the positive side effects of decepeptyl, for me they gave me terrible side effects and the only positive was the bleeding stopped x

hi dear

I am sorry abt what you r going through, Yes it was the same for me , I had nine of them and the first 6 month specially the second 3 month I felt horrible constantly in super low mood and they turned into anxiety attacks sth so I took Ativan it helped.

But after I started add back therapy with teo pills estradiol and micronor they helped a lot and almost after few days on them I felt much better, to the point they almost disappeared for the last two month of being on deca.

I’ve just got my first period after 8 month of not having one.

Yeh decapeptyl is awful. I gained weight that I couldn't lose. My mental state was horrific. For me is not worth it, it helps for little while, it might shrink the endo and fibriods for little bit. That moment u stop taking it all comes back. Side effect are just too much. Sorry u feel horrible.

I was the same. I gave up on the injection after 9 months as I just couldn’t cope with the extreme mood swings any more. Makes me wonder how Ill cope with menopause! 🤣

Thank you all for your replies, I am feeling a little relieved to be honest that I am not the only one that has been through it and it is this horrid injection causing it. I think it's also causing my brain fog and confusion. I get so confused by what day of the week it is sometimes. I just feel so low, it doesn't help having a 10 month old. Everyone expects me to be happy but here I am crying all of the time.
