Hi

Am 7 weeks post op following removal of everything but not the ovaries via laparoscopic and vaginal my fir not stated 3mths

However I started my new job August so was bot entitled to sick pay, so I used 2.5 weeks A/L then they said they would pay me sick for a week, I then worked from home for 3 weeks and returned back FT this week.

It’s Thursday and I feel dreadful, I feel sick, stomach discomfort, vaginal pressure, tired drained but then think am I being soft as it’s 7 weeks.

My friends and colleagues are like you have had a major op and inside needs time to heal, when I was at home I was feel great and thinking yes I can go back to work but it’s been hard.

I work in a GP surgery dealing with patients face to face and on the phone, in a morning I feel good and the morning at work has been ok but get to the afternoon and the pressure/discomfort is worse.

My question is how long did other people have off work ?

Thanks

Hi, everyone’s bodies heal differently and at different times. I had 3 months off work after mine. I had a total removal including ovaries etc.

It sounds like you’re being too hard on yourself. You’ve got to put yourself first. Don’t rush things because you don’t want any complications later on.

I hope you’re recovery goes well 😊

Hi I’m 9 weeks post op TAH including ovaries, 7 weeks is still early days. I’m self employed and work mostly from home anyway but my GP says he signs women off for 12 weeks and then takes it from there.

It takes 12 weeks for the internal stitches to heal.I feel really well now but if I sit at my computer for too long I start to get aches and pulling pains and by late afternoon I feel completely knackered. I’m still really watching what I lift and will be for a while.

Best of luck xx

I think its more a case of taking it gradually. I had a total hysterectomy, had 2.5 weeks off completely, then worked from home for 2 weeks then came back to work, 1 day in and one day at home for a couple of weeks, then back full time in a fairly physical job, but no lifting or walking for more than an hour. So I'd say 8 weeks until back full time but the tiredness carried on for a few more weeks. I do think keeping mobile really helps, and pelvic floor exercises are a must, even if it's a bit uncomfortable. I'd also say 12 weeks until you feel pretty much normal so you are being hard on yourself!!

hi

Thank you all for your replies, I have been sent home today I was an emotional wreck. They ar e going to look at a plan for me for the next 2 weeks that’s a bit more easy.

My friend mentioned one day in one day from home that’s sounds like a good plan.

Yes I totally get the sat at computer too long the pressure on the stomach can get bad.

Thank you everyone, like I said I was signed off for 12 weeks but for financial reasons could not take all that time off.

But am going to be a bit more gentle to me self and realise just cause I look on on the outside my inside not fully healed.

Xx
