Insurance Policy for pre-existing Endometriosis

Hi I just moved to London and currently reading about our Private Medical Insurance coverage. When I reached the clause "Pre-existing conditions are not covered" I felt a little worried because of the probable expenses in future check-ups etc.

I found this community through NHS and I'm happy to find people who have/had similar experience and gynecological discomforts. Not happy to have/had it, but having a support group is good for mental health.

Medical care everywhere is expensive especially if we don't have insurance. Good thing, all my expenses before were paid by the health insurance provided by the company when I was in my home country. But now that I moved here, I'm quite nervous with the medical expense if that will not be covered.

Just curious if there is someone who is working in the UK, was previously diagnosed with Endometriosis and in continuous medication who has PMI provided by the company? What did you do to have it covered? or what other health insurance did you take? Or any advise would be helpful.

I have PMI through work and pre existing conditions are covered but it specifically states this and there are rules around what it means - I’ve recently used it to have surgery by explaining that the endo was getting bad again and I needed treatment to get it back under control.

It changes depending on what sort of cover you have and what your policy allows so it sounds like yours is quite firm that you wouldn’t be covered for it. Can you use the NHS?

I am not sure yet how will that work with NHS though. Is it easy to get a regular OB gyne using NHS?

They’ll be a waiting list but you just go to see your GP and explain the issue and ask for a Gynaecology referral. Or a private consultation without using your insurance would be around £150ish depending on the consultant.
