post resection of endometriosis and back ache

hello,

I’m day 4 post laparoscopic resection of endometriosis and I’m having alot of dense pain and scapular aching. I’ve been pottering as much as I can and drinking peppermint tea but I wondered if anyone had any tips as usually I’d just do some yoga and it’d right itself. I know wind pain is normal but resting so much on my back is beginning to take its toll. Thankyou

For the first few days after my lap the shoulder pain from the gas was worse than anything else! Peppermint tea and walking only helped to an extent but I did find my heat pad quite helpful in at least making me more comfortable when I was trying to rest. I hope this helps, and best of luck with your recovery!

Thankyou so much, I’m day 6 now so most of the wind has dispersed just picking up on every twinge and feeling a new level of anxiety over whether the surgery will have helped.

I completely understand. I'm just under 3 weeks post and aside from the odd twinge on my incisions as I try to get back into my fitness my post surgical pain has pretty much resolved but I'm still left with my usual level of chronic pain as I had prior to the surgery and it's making me anxious about whether this is going to improve over time or not. I think we need to remind ourselves that our bodies (and minds!) need time to heal after the surgery. I've heard it can take around 6 months to truly see if the surgery has had an effect on pain. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

I think you’re so right about both body and mind! I’ve felt really low the last few days which I appreciate is part of a ‘healing’ process but chronic and healing aren’t words you’d usually pair together so I suppose it’s understandable to be concerned over the impact surgery has had. Good or bad. I try and be positive as I can and I suppose ‘manifest’ in my own way but I read that 60% of people feel an improvement so I will share my positive thoughts and keep my fingers crossed for the both of us.
