Acupuncture for Endo

Hello. Has anyone ever had acupuncture for their Endometriosis and found it useful? I’m debating trying some alternative therapies to alleviate my pain while I wait for my 4th surgery… Thank you.

hi, I’ve had some acupuncture and it really helped with my pelvic pain and back pain.

Reiki also really helped me pre op. I will continue with both as and when I can afford it.

Relaxation and pain relief, pefect for us Endo warriors.

hiya - I’ve only recently been diagnosed with Endo (earlier this summer). I suppressed the pain for many years and before diving into the hormonal or invasive options offered to me by the mainstream medical community (also because the waiting lists are so long!) I started trying accupuncture. It’s actually helped me

For the first few months it would only help relieve immediate pain and that also temporary say 12-24 hours. But recently I’ve found the onset of symptoms is also less heightened. I can’t directly attribute it to the Accupuncture but I haven’t started any other medication or treatment… make of that as you wish…

There are several types of acupuncture so pls research the type of practitioner and whether they have experience treating gynaecological issues.

All the best! 💛

Thank you! All the best with any future treatment now you’ve finally been diagnosed 🙏

I find that if I have the opportunity to do it as I feel my body reacting, it really helps, but it's sometimes hard to be in 'that' place. We do what we can, when we can

hi I’ve had it but did nothing really. Worth trying though

That's so true. You just never know.

Hiya, I’ve had a few sessions. I find that it didn’t really help with my pain but it did help with my sleep for a bit. I think it’s definitely worth trying.

Hi, I tried it whilst also on waiting list for gynae appt. It helped for the first few months, but then I didn’t see an impact. This also coincided with appointments becoming spaced further apart, however. It’s worth trying. I understand it has helped people manage their symptoms. Let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hear that your appointments are becoming spaced further apart, me too. Which is why I am so grateful to do be able to do self acupuncture.

That’s interesting. How did you learn how to do that?

Here is the link with further information, if you type the name of your hospital into Google and put 'teaching hospital pain managment' into the search it should bring up this service in your area:

Good luck!

I had acupuncture for back pain and it definitely made a difference. I also found making diet changes and moving to a more anti-inflammatory diet helped with endo too.

If it's not quite clear by now I am a fan of acupuncture, I have also made concious desicions about what I am eating, when, time etc and I could not pin down anything that was a trigger. But one of my symptoms is extreme bowl movements, which I have since learned are caused as a result of lesions, cysts and scar tissue in this area. I have a great consultant.

Hi, yes I have acupuncture once a month and it’s helped my symptoms massively so much so for the first time in ages I’ve been able to go pain killer free 😀 Definitely give it a shot. Good luck x

I was lucky enough to participate in a post surgery Pain Managment clinic, which included self acupuncture which focused on the points for Endo releif. It has given me another defence in my armour. It doesn't eradicate the pain, but it gives so much calm to my whole body and mind. Please look into this in your area, I do this at home, in my space and the needles cost approx. £12.00 for 100 and you use 5 each time so your costs are based on how often you practice.
