hi I know from experience that they move people up and down the lists as they categorise your referral. So people who have been referred as urgent will go on the list before you which means it will bump you higher up the list.
In the past I have asked to be seen as a matter of urgency due to my symptoms etc, your GP is able to do this for you x
I understand! I was due to have my lap next week and it was cancelled with five days notice because of an urgent case that will wipe out that day's surgery list. Now I'm due to have it the week before Christmas. Obviously I'm glad to not be the urgent complex case they predict will take several hours of surgery, but it is frustrating.
Are you in a position to take a cancellation or do you need lots of notice? The last Gynae registrar I saw put me on the cancellation list because of my complete lack of plans, and work flexibility meaning I could take anything (and I have no kids). That's how I got my first appointment monthse earlier than expected (which has now been cancelled), and will be offered others if any come up before the Christmas one I've been offered.
yes I'm on the automatic cancellation list I don't think they think I'm that bad because I am in work but functioning on strong painkillers.
Have you been offered any treatment while you wait or just pain management? I've been on Decapeptyl for most of this year and it's been massively helpful (after a rocky start) nd I can function again. I know GnRHa injections don't work for everyone though. It was really hard for me to decide to have this treatment, but I had zero quality of life for at two out of every four weeks and wasn't great for the other two.
It's been nearly two years since I had my first phone consultation with a Gynae consultant for this referral. It's been a year since I was first seen in person and offered surgery, and the predicted date for that has jumped from 2024 to early 2023 (without the cancellation list), so I really hope you are seen sooner than you think.
As AllTheGlitters said above, perhaps you could try your GP to get you pushed as urgent? Is your GP generally any good with this?
yes my GP referred me in the first place when I went with uncomfortable stomach but that was more cancer alarms which turned out to be fake, the first appointment with the consultant was relatively quick and I was put on the waiting list in January for surgery. I am currently on GNrha injections but not sure what happens now only approved for six months but my periods are hell without them.
