Quick question, I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow to talk about my Gynae issues and I was thinking about asking to try a Progestogen only pill.
I had my tubes tied 14 years ago and had the coil twice but it fell out.
While I wait for my hysterectomy I was think would the pill help with my periods, the pains, and bowel pains?
Does anyone have any advice before I speak with the GP ?
Thanks for reading

I changed from the combined pill to the POP earlier this year and it has worked much better for me. My first period on it was extremely heavy, possibly due to the change over but also because I started anti-coagulants at the same time. I had almost zero pain and no tummy upset though so it was a big improvement. I’ve had several periods since and they’ve all been extremely light with maybe a couple of very mild cramps and no yo-yoing between diarrhoea and constipation, which is what I used to get. Only downsides for me are that it’s not so easy to predict when you’ll have a period as there’s no break and my skin has gone back to it’s super oily self so I’ve had a few spots to deal with. That is improving a bit now (or I’m just learning to deal with it 😄).
You won’t really know until you try it as it’s different for everyone. The bonus is that it’s a pill so if it doesn’t work you can just stop taking it but I’d give it at least 3 months, maybe more before you decide to stop so you have time to settle and get used to it. Good luck!
