Hi, lm currently being treated with Prostap & Livial HRT & lm finding the pain is turned up to 11, l am on my 2nd injection now. I have spoken with my endo nurse & she says this is all normal & l probably wont feel relief until number 3 or 4. I guess l am looking for some advice on how to get through it or even anyone else who has had this treatment?

Hi this happened to me. Unfortunately the way the drug works in its simplified way is that it stimulates the ovaries, which can seriously highten pain before it shuts the ovaries down. This will evenually then stop your periods easing your pain. This does take 3 months or in my case it was the 4th injection when i started to note some improvement but it didn't work very well for me. Only reducing pain by 20 - 30%. Other women have found a really dramatic improvement and i hope this is the case for you. However if by the 4th month there is still no improvement its unlikley it will help at all. Be careful here because some consultants will then try to gas light you and say if this drug doesn't work then it may not be endo that is causing your pain. IGNORE them. This drug does not work for everyone and some endo is so bad that shuting the ovaries down has little to no effect on pain, surgery is the only option. Please note this drug does not remove/destroy endo but it can shrink it temporarily, only for it to return at a later date when you stop the drug. If you are close to having surgery ( within 9months) please do not try it. It can change the appearence and size of endo so that your surgeon may miss it in the opererating theatre. Only for it to return a few months later after surgery, rendering surgery pointless. This has happened to me and the effects of prostap/zoladex on endo is well documented. Good luck i hope this was helpful. Take care and i hope it works for you.
