Day 1 Lap Recovery

Hi everyone,

I had my first laparoscopy yesterday and as suspected they found endometriosis. I’ve been waiting a long time for this diagnosis so I’m really pleased that I have an answer. I’m participating in a blind clinical trial that hopes to understand endo pain better so I have no idea if they removed it or not but honestly, I’m just relieved to know the reason for my pain.

I’m looking for any post op recovery tips. At the moment I’m most struggling with the gas pain in my shoulders and upper body, the throat pain from the tube is awful, and obviously my whole tummy. I’m trying peppermint tea which is helpful so far with my painkillers for the gas, but does anyone has any advice on positions to sit in or to avoid? because lying down makes the gas pain so much worse for me. Also, did anyone have issues with their throat following the op? Mine is red raw and I’m worried it could get infected.

Thank you all so much for your help on my other posts leading up to this op, I was so scared before but I managed to go in there and not let my anxiety control the situation. You’re all stars ⭐️

Hi

I am 10 days post laparoscopy and endometriosis excision. I had all the same symptoms as you but feeling much better now. I tried to keep doing small walks around the house little and often which really helped the gas. Lying on my side in and elevated position also helped. I was recommended to use OTC throat lozenges by the hospital for throat pain and contact my Gp if things were not improving. Sending hugs x

The gas need to escape your body. I know you might not feel like it, but get moving as you can. Shirt small walks and move about will get the gas to escape your body better.

Also if you need burp or fart..let it out 😂
